The Governance and Compliance Advisor supports the integrity and effectiveness of Arizona’s workforce system through relationship management, regulatory oversight, and strategic alignment. This position provides compliance leadership and technical assistance to Arizona’s 12 Local Workforce Development Boards, working with board chairs, executive directors, and the State Workforce Development Board to ensure adherence to WIOA and related federal and state requirements. The key responsibilities include guiding governance practices, monitoring risk, supporting ethical and transparent operations, developing policy, overseeing corrective action plans, and ensuring required documentation and reporting are completed. The Advisor also develops policy and compliance recommendations for the Arizona Workforce Council Executive Committee and Board to support statewide workforce strategy. This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures. The State of Arizona strives for a work culture that affords employees flexibility, autonomy, and trust. Across our many agencies, boards, and commissions, many State employees participate in the State’s Remote Work Program and are able to work remotely in their homes, in offices, and in hoteling spaces. All work, including remote work, should be performed within Arizona unless an exception is properly authorized in advance.
