About The Position

Tellus Civic Science Corporation (Tellus) provides world-class science, engineering, research, planning, and consulting solutions focused on resource conservation and restoration, carbon reduction, and sustainability to mitigate the impacts of climate change, strengthen community resilience, preserve our environment, and create a more equitable society for all. We seek a financial and accounting professional to provide governmental compliant accounting, planning, and reporting in a growing woman-owned small business. The successful candidate will ensure adherence to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) regulations, prepare and manage DCAA audits, handle cost accounting, manage the recording of transactions and overall accounting structure, develop and maintain provisional and indirect rates, and monitor AR/AP. The position requires financial analysis, forecasting, and project P&L tracking and analysis to support business decisions. Requirements

Must possess high moral character, transparency, and honesty.
Bachelors degree in business, finance, or accounting.
6+ years of prior GovCon accounting and financial analysis experience.
Proficient with the Federal Travel Regulations (FTR).
Experience applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and FAR.
Experience developing financial reports to support business decisions.
Proficient in GovCon platforms such as Unanet and Deltek CostPoint.
Proficient with accounting and financial software such as QuickBooks Online.
Ability to contribute to a great team in a diverse and fun environment with a passion for doing good in the world.
Must be able to pass criminal and financial background check.

Responsibilities

Work with CFO Hub, Tellus' CFO contractor, to prepare monthly financial reports including wrap rate results, and be the Tellus main point of contact to CFO Hub.
Take ownership of preparing financial documents once the contract with CFO Hub is complete.
Assist with financial statement audits, risk assessments, information systems assurance, employee benefit plan audits.
Support Tellus owners in preparing for and completing transactions.
Reconcile receipts with charges to company credit cards and bank transactions at least on monthly basis. Record expenses to the accounting system in accordance with GAAP and FAR part 31.
Keep track of Company Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
Create Purchase Orders and Setup agreements with vendors and subcontractors.
Support the overall smooth running of the business from a financial perspective.
Evaluate and manage financial risk alongside Tellus' owners.
Contribute to the Annual Budget process.
Support projects by providing project forecasting tools, such as ETC and EAC projections.
Support business development activities such as market research and proposal development.
Support the owners and directors with developing plans for the company's financial growth and identifying additional overhead investments to support the growth of the company.
Request timesheet completions from Tellus Staff and notify supervisors and owners of when the timesheets have been submitted and are ready for review.
Run the payroll timesheet report and send the report to Tellus' contracted Human Resources Provider, AspenHR, to run payroll.
Compute payroll and labor costing, ensure amounts are properly recorded in the Financial System.
Review coding for Employee Expense reports, ensure amounts are properly recorded in the Financial System.
Work with Tellus' Program and Project Managers to create and submit invoices to Tellus' clients.
Ensure all vendor invoices are recorded in the accounting system in the proper period. Monitor payables and ensure timely payments are made.
