About The Position

The Google Cloud Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying secure, scalable applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) across PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, and DaaS models, working independently and with cross-functional teams to migrate on-premises systems, automate infrastructure, and manage cloud cost, risk, and security. They will support the agency's rollout of Gemini for Government, helping integrate Gemini models, enterprise search, and agentic AI tools into mission systems within a secure, FedRAMP High-authorized environment.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related analytical, scientific, or technical discipline
  • 1–2 years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including core services such as VPC, Compute Engine, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL/BigQuery, and Cloud IAM
  • 4–6 years performing development and deployment on a private/public cloud or comparable high-availability environment
  • Experience deploying and managing infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Azure ARM templates
  • Experience implementing and maintaining cloud security best practices
  • Experience creating and maintaining documentation for cloud architecture, configurations, and processes

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Google's Gemini/Vertex AI ecosystem or other enterprise LLM/generative AI platforms
  • Experience integrating AI-powered tools (e.g., enterprise search, AI agents, NotebookLM) into existing applications or workflows
  • Google Professional Cloud Architect or Google Professional Cloud Developer certification
  • Experience with additional major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Oracle) in a multi-cloud or migration context
  • Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD or similar pipeline tooling
  • Prior experience on federal or other high-compliance programs

Responsibilities

  • Implement automation for cloud resource provisioning and management using DevSecOps best practices
  • Support the configuration, integration, and rollout of Gemini for Government capabilities (Gemini models, enterprise search, NotebookLM Enterprise, agentic tools) into agency applications and workflows
  • Analyze existing applications and recommend which platforms/workloads should move, migrate, or be deployed to a cloud environment
  • Develop failure/recovery strategies, cost-optimization plans, and benefit analyses comparing cloud, cloud-agnostic, and on-premises solutions
  • Enable AI and private network access to enterprise datasets
  • Debug and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure and application stacks
  • Establish and manage policies governing cloud service usage and evaluate requests for new technologies, including AI/ML tools
  • Design and maintain a secure cloud environment, ensuring appropriate availability, uptime, and compliance (e.g., FedRAMp High, IAM, data privacy)
  • Design and develop new cloud software products or major enhancements to existing systems
