About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Golf, the Golf Starter will be responsible for supervising specific parts of the golf operation including but not limited to Starters, Rangers, and Outside Golf Staff, as well as supporting the daily operation of the Golf Pro Shop. This role may also involve teaching private, group, and junior golf lessons as available. The essential functions include enthusiastically greeting guests, speaking with them in a friendly and warm manner, displaying appropriate conduct, utilizing a working knowledge of club operations, rendering professional advice and assistance, performing duties for tournaments and club services, promoting the interests of the resort, providing a guest-friendly environment, and coordinating the on-course guest experience to ensure a positive and memorable round of golf and hotel stay.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, plus two years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training, experience, and/or education.
  • Must possess a teaching background in group, private and junior golf instruction.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must provide excellent service to internal and external customers.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be attentive to detail.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising specific parts of the golf operation including Starters, Rangers, and Outside Golf Staff.
  • Supporting the daily operation of the Golf Pro Shop.
  • Teaching private, group, and junior golf lessons as available.
  • Enthusiastically greeting guests (by name if possible).
  • Speaking with guests in a friendly, warm manner making them feel welcome.
  • Displaying conduct in an appropriate manner at all times in accordance with the Omni Hotels.
  • Utilizing a working knowledge of club operations.
  • Rendering professional advice, opinions, assistance, and services as required.
  • Performing duties and meeting requirements for tournaments, club rentals and services which the Head Golf Professional and Assistant Professionals deem necessary.
  • Promoting the interests of the resort in providing service to the guest.
  • Providing a guest friendly environment.
  • Coordinating the golf guest on-course experience while maintaining a positive memorable experience during their round(s) of golf and hotel stay.
