About The Position

TPC Deere Run is a public, par-71 championship golf course in Silvis, Illinois, and has hosted the PGA TOUR’s annual John Deere Classic since 2000. The Golf Shop Intern receives hands-on exposure to golf operations, including financial management and reporting, inventory maintenance, and coordination of tournament and daily event logistics.

The position works with operations and tournament services staff to support tournament setup and production, vendor and volunteer coordination, equipment and supply distribution, competitions, and inventory. The work takes place in a tournament office environment and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Travel is not expected. The schedule may include after-hours on-call shifts, nonstandard hours, early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. The position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• Educational experience in marketing, business, or sports marketing.
• Experience with social media applications and language.
• Solid organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software applications.
• Professional image and ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to comply with applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations.
• Ability to lift, pull, or push up to or over 45 pounds and move or lift items with awkward weights.
• Vision abilities including close vision, depth perception, color vision, distance and peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to work after-hours on-call shifts and nonstandard hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

• Prior exposure to or experience with golf tournament or sports event communications.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Operations Manager and/or Tournament Services Manager on tournament setup and production, including building, teardown, and maintenance of event facilities.
• Coordinate tournament and daily operations with vendors and volunteer committees.
• Coordinate golf carts, communication equipment, soft drink and water distribution for players and volunteers, and miscellaneous volunteer supplies.
• Assist with Pro-Am and/or Am-Am competitions before, during, and after the tournament.
• Order, receive, inventory, and stock items needed for tournament operations.
• Complete special projects and other assigned duties.
