Must be 16 years old by time of hire The starting hiring rate for this role is $17.00/hour. This is classified as VHNE (Variable Hour Non-Benefit Employee), where the selected candidate will work less than 29 hours per week. This position does not provide medical benefits. This position earns sick leave in accordance with the Healthy Families and Workplace Act. The City of Aurora will conduct ongoing screenings of applications on a first-come, first-served basis; as soon as we determine we have a qualified pool of applicants, this position may close quickly and without notice. This job announcement is for collecting candidate applications for current and future Golf Shop Associates. Applicants will be contacted only when a position need is identified, and their qualifications match the position's needs. The selected applicant(s) will undergo the following conditions: Background Check (if over 18) Position overview: Performs a variety of manual and skilled functions associated with daily golf shop operations at one of the city owned golf courses. Primary focus of position is providing exceptional customer service aimed at maximizing customer experiences. The Golf Division operates the courses as a division of the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department

  • Experienced in traditional computer operations and windows-based programs
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels of organization

  • Know when to call on a supervisor or another more experienced staff member to assist with a situation

Responsibilities

  • Performs functions in person and over the phone related to golfers checking in to play, making reservations or general informational inquiries.
  • Daily functions include, but are not limited to, providing exceptional customer service, cash handling, POS and reservation systems, assist with customer inquiries/concerns, communicate issues appropriately with maintenance and outside service staff, provide retail, tournament and club/league assistance and monitor flow of play on the course
  • Assist with various programming and or marketing activities for the course and Golf Division
  • Those with golf instruction experience may be asked to help with instructional programming
  • May be issued keys and asked to help with opening and closing responsibilities
  • Will help with outside service duties when need arises
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
