About The Position

The position of Golf Course Ranger/Starter is responsible for overseeing the smooth and timely pace of play of a golf course. The Ranger patrols the course and driving range, ensuring golfers follow the course’s rules and regulations, monitors golfers during play to maintain golf course rules and play etiquette while also ensuring the proper timeline of tee-offs. This role also involves maintaining the commitment to member satisfaction, exhibiting professional and courteous behavior, and complying with all club policies and regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and cooperative skills.
  • Positive interpersonal, customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must be able to pull and lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds regularly.

Nice To Haves

  • Golf knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Check with Golf Shop for any special instructions or requests.
  • Ensure players tee off at their assigned tee times.
  • Observe pace of play on the golf course, requesting slower playing groups to speed up pace, if appropriate.
  • Inform professional shop services about the rate of course play for the day as needed and appropriate.
  • Supply players with score cards, pencils, rules of play and other amenities as directed.
  • Prevent players from entering course beyond starting tee.
  • Assist in maintaining golf course conditions by promoting use of divot repair sand, ball marks and ensure sand traps are raked.
  • Escort unauthorized people from the golf course.
  • Enforce facility rules and regulations.
  • Promote facility programs, events, and image to the Members at all times.
  • Maintain clean and orderly appearance of stater’s booth at all times.
  • Advise players and golf cart attendants about course conditions.
  • Assist golf cart room attendants when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain The Moorings Yacht & Country Club commitment to member satisfaction while performing job duties.
  • Exhibit and practice professional and courteous behavior while interacting with Members, their guests or other employee.
  • Comply with all rules, regulations and policies as stated in the Employee Handbook and/or established by the Board of Governors.
  • Adhere to the Club’s Code of Ethics and Conduct.
  • Be cognizant of the rules and regulations of the facility for the safety and welfare of the staff and members.
  • Be able to work well under pressure and meet all deadlines.
