About The Position

The Operator works under the Golf Course Foreman/Golf Course Supervisor to accomplish basic tasks associated with the maintenance of an upscale golf facility and the willingness to follow and observe policies and procedures outlined in the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa Handbook and Golf Course Department Training Manual.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years golf course experience.
  • Valid California Driver's license.
  • Approachable demeanor: Friendly, team attitude, ability to follow directions and supervision.
  • Ability to work early mornings and some weekends/holidays.
  • Ability to uphold the standard levels outlined in the departments Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Ojai Valley Inn & Spa Handbook, and the Golf Course Operations Manual.
  • Good understanding of the English language.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous golf course/landscaping experience.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • Previous heavy machinery operation.
  • Ability to read/write in English.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Golf Course Foreman in preparing golf course for daily play: Rake bunkers, empty trash, change drinking water, maintain golf ball washers, mowing greens, collars, tee’s, rodent control/gophers, assist in irrigation repair, placing of tee markers, changing cups and daily set-up routine.
  • Assist Golf Course Foreman with turf maintenance program: Mowing fairways, roughs, approaches, fertilizing, irrigation repair, green and tee banks, greens and tees with triplex mowers, hand mow areas around tees/greens, edge around trees/bunkers/cart paths/sprinkler heads/curbs/etc., and accomplish required clean-up duties associated with cutting tasks.
  • Assist Golf Course Foreman with golf course clean-up program: Rake leaves, pick-up trash, clean-up fallen tree branches, blow/sweep cart paths, weed flowerbeds.
  • Assist Golf Course Foreman with special golf course projects: Annual overseeding program, greens aerification when necessary, post storm clean-up, special golf events needs, and any special project where services are needed.
  • Cleaning & maintaining golf course equipment and machinery: Thoroughly clean, stock, and store any equipment or machinery used for various tasks that may be performed.
  • Work as a team member to improve golf course conditions, work environment, and creating a safe work environment.
