About The Position

A person to perform mechanical diagnostic and repair of vehicles and equipment that is used to perform maintenance tasks at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa.

Requirements

Previous experience with repair of golf course, grounds maintenance equipment, heavy equipment (tractors, trucks, excavating equipment), small engines and/or vehicles.
Ability to pick up new tasks with proper training and complete job assignments without direct supervision for most of the day.
Polite and thoughtful of others (guests and co-workers).
Must be able to pass a background investigation and drug screen.
Must provide own personal tools necessary to get work completed.

Nice To Haves

Any formal education with an emphasis in vehicle, small engines, or mowing equipment would be helpful.

Responsibilities

Perform mechanical diagnostic and repair of vehicles and equipment used for maintenance tasks.
Complete all assignments requested.
Maintain open line of communication with direct supervisor.
Perform manual labor including shoveling, raking, and lifting objects.
Operate equipment and tools safely and properly.
Work with others as a team to achieve common goals.
Report to work on time and complete all scheduled shifts.
Attend monthly safety meetings and pre-scheduled department meetings.
Assist other departments when requested.
Help train other employees on certain job tasks when necessary.
Understand and abide by environmental practices.
Be a self-starter and look for ways to improve performance.
Perform necessary snow removal duties during winter months.
Assist with equipment parts inventory control.
Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment.
Repair broken or malfunctioning equipment.
Change oil, make adjustments to mower cutting units, change tires, repair safety devices, grease equipment.
Troubleshoot electrical systems on golf carts and mowing equipment.
Repair brakes, door latches, pull cords, damaged bearings and seals.
Operate hand-held manual and power tools such as reel grinder, bed knife grinder, cut off tools, power drills, hammers, pry bars.
