About The Position

This role is responsible for applying pesticides and herbicides to manage insects and unwanted vegetation on the golf course property. The applicator must prioritize safety, understand and follow all pesticide and herbicide labels, and be knowledgeable about the plants on the property. Key duties include maintaining equipment, keeping accurate records of treatments, managing chemical inventory, and assisting with special projects. The position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and may involve exposure to chemical fumes. Flexibility in work hours, including potential overtime, is necessary.

Requirements

  • 3 years related work experience.
  • Read directions for the use and maintenance of chemicals.
  • Math skills to calibrate the chemical mixture.
  • Must be able to multi-task.

Responsibilities

  • Apply appropriate pesticide or herbicide to treat insects and unwanted grasses, plants, shrubs, and trees.
  • Keep spraying and safety equipment in proper working order and do minor repairs and maintenance when needed.
  • Keep accurate records of areas treated and to follow-up and maintain acceptable levels of weed control.
  • Maintain a proper inventory of chemicals and notify manager when there is a need to order.
  • Read and follow directions on the proper application and handling of pesticides and herbicides.
  • Use pesticides to control insects.
  • Responsible for the growth and care of ornamental plants, trees and shrubs.
  • Maintain safety equipment and follow all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Responsible for the proper use, maintenance, cleaning and care of tools and equipment.
  • Assist in special projects.
  • Complete work assignments in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
  • Plant or remove grass, ground cover, and plants.
  • Assist other positions in the department.
