About The Position

The Country Club of Landfall is a private club located near Wrightsville Beach in Wilmington, NC. The membership invests heavily in their golfing experience and places a high demand on course conditioning whether it be for tournaments or daily play. Of the 45-holes on property, 18 were designed by Pete Dye, and 27 by Jack Nicklaus. The club has undergone significant renovations including converting putting surfaces to TifEagle, draining and sand-capping approaches, rebuilding bunkers, enlarging and laser-leveling tee tops, constructing short game practice areas, installing a 2-wire Rain Bird irrigation system, and stabilizing eroded pond banks. This position reports to the Assistant Superintendents, Course Superintendent, and Director of Golf Courses & Grounds Maintenance. The ideal candidate will possess a can-do attitude, be energetic, and unhesitatingly embrace teamwork mentality. He or she will also be highly motivated, detail-oriented, passionate, and comfortable working in a fast-paced work environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Member/Guest satisfaction oriented with ability to multi-task in fast paced environment
  • Requires walking and standing for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to exert and lift more than 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work in varying temperatures and inclement weather

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work experience in the golf course maintenance industry is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Mowing (greens, tees, fairways, roughs)
  • Trimming
  • Watering
  • Fertilizing
  • Aerating
  • Drainage
  • Sodding
  • Bunker maintenance (raking, edging, rototilling, plate tamping, addition of sand, sand depth inspections, sand redistribution)
  • Course setup (changing hole locations, setting tee markers, filling ball washers, repairing divots, and cleaning debris)
  • Safely operating mowers (riding/walking), blowers, string trimmers, utility vehicles, and chainsaws
  • Trimming trees/bushes
  • Cleaning facilities
  • Collecting litter
  • Basic irrigation system upkeep
  • Fueling, cleaning, performing basic maintenance, and reporting equipment issues
  • Following safety protocols
  • Applying chemicals (as directed)
  • Maintaining records
