The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and operational excellence of the municipal golf course. This includes overseeing golf course conditions, maintenance facilities, equipment, irrigation systems, and Pro-Shop operations. The role involves making hiring recommendations, training, scheduling, assigning work, evaluating performance, and enforcing standards for safety, operations, and customer service. The Superintendent plans, schedules, and directs daily golf course maintenance, including greens, tees, fairways, roughs, practice areas, clubhouse grounds, and maintenance facilities. They also oversee maintenance warehouse operations, inventory control, equipment storage, and safety compliance. The position requires ordering, reviewing, and approving materials, supplies, chemicals, fertilizers, and equipment. Responsibilities include overseeing irrigation systems, pump stations, drainage systems, wells, and water management practices, as well as monitoring turf health and environmental conditions to address issues like disease, insects, weeds, and irrigation problems. The Superintendent manages maintenance shop operations, ensuring equipment is serviced according to preventive maintenance schedules. They develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets for golf course maintenance, monitor expenditures, and purchase necessary equipment and supplies in accordance with City purchasing policies. The role also involves maintaining inventory control, overseeing the maintenance of clubhouse grounds, landscaping, parking areas, and facilities, and coordinating construction and renovation projects. Establishing work schedules, training employees on equipment operation, turf maintenance, safety, and chemical use, and conducting performance evaluations are key duties. Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, maintaining accurate records, and coordinating maintenance activities to minimize disruption during events are also essential. The Superintendent collaborates with golf operations staff to ensure high-quality playing conditions and customer satisfaction, and responds to emergency situations. Inspections of the golf course are performed to maintain consistent playing conditions and aesthetic standards. The role also includes supervising and managing all Pro-Shop operations, including staffing, scheduling, merchandising, inventory control, and point-of-sale systems, and ensuring Pro-Shop operations align with City policies and financial goals. Collaboration with City management, staff, vendors, golfers, and the public is expected to ensure high-quality operations and customer satisfaction. Maintaining required certifications and licenses, working assigned schedules, and complying with attendance policies are mandatory. Other related duties may be assigned.
