Requirements

  • Position requires flexibility in scheduling including AM shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Must have attention to detail, strong ability to multi-task, and time-management skills
  • Previous Golf maintenance superintendent experience of at least 2 years is required.
  • Hospitality/Private Club experience required.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Skilled in turf, turf cultural practices and detail of golf courses
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Position requires advanced knowledge of agronomy and turf grass management practices, working knowledge of golf facility construction principles, practices and methods
  • Requires a high degree of administrative and executive ability, especially in terms of problem solving and decision making
  • State certification or licensing as pesticide applicator required
  • Must be able to complete repetitive motions throughout shift such as lifting bending, twisting, climbing, etc.
  • Must be able to lift, push, carry, and pull at least 50lbs.
  • Exposure to various types of Florida weather conditions including: sunshine, heat, and rain. May regularly be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic/caustic chemicals
  • Ability to effectively communicate and keep business records.
  • Ability to schedule and supervise maintenance work to achieve the most efficient and productive use of equipment and labor.
  • Knowledge of the game of golf and understanding of how conditions affect the golfer and playability.
  • Knowledge of the course and all hazards.
  • Requires participation in continuing education opportunities such as seminars, workshops, correspondence courses, field days and trade shows
  • Requires knowledge of current federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting the management of golf course operations (including, but not limited to, employment, safety and environmental standards, laws and regulations)

Responsibilities

  • Golf course superintendent will be entrusted with the maintenance, operations and management of the Watson, Palmer, & Nicklaus golf courses.
  • Carefully manage the maintenance inputs to the golf course while conserving and protecting natural resources.
  • Directly influence the playing areas and landscapes with which golfers interact.
  • Supervise and maintain Watson & Palmer golf courses in optimal condition to include landscape areas around golf courses, to encompass the rest of the resort
  • Responsible for the inventory, maintenance and repair of all tools and equipment
  • Oversee scheduling and assignment of Reunion Aces and equipment to accomplish required tasks
  • Frequently inspect the Watson, Palmer, & Nicklaus golf courses and related areas to evaluate conditions and address challenges
  • Plan all maintenance and project work, applying agronomic and administrative expertise to achieve standards and long-term goals
  • Keep accurate and complete records on weather data, maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, etc.
  • Communicate regularly with resort’s leadership team to discuss activities, goals, plans, and member/customer input
  • Responsible for maintaining positive relationships with Reunion members and guests
  • Acts as a liaison with HOA on managing and maintaining common areas
  • Works directly with common areas landscaping company
  • Adhere to Reunion Resort and Golf Club company procedures and policies
  • Completing any other task/duties assigned
