About The Position

The Aquatics and Athletics Facilities Division (AAFD) is seeking a Shift Manager/Manager on Duty to assist the Paint Branch Golf Complex with daily golf operations and customer service needs. Paint Branch Golf Complex is a 9-hole golf course offering a driving range, practice putting green, and short game area, along with player development programs. The Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Golf Shop and coordinating departments like outside services, starters, marshals, and cart staff. This role acts as the Manager on Duty, ensuring exceptional customer service, efficient operations, staff accountability, and a high-quality golf experience. The position also involves hands-on experience in operating a small food and beverage concession and daily golf simulator operations.

Requirements

  • Required Experience working in a golf retail shop.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to deal with the public in a courteous manner.
  • Must be on time and able to work on a designated schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Manager on Duty for daily golf operations, ensuring a consistently high level of service and operational efficiency.
  • Supervise and support all golf operation staff, including Golf Shop Attendants, Starters, Marshals, Cart Staff, and other outside service personnel.
  • Coordinate daily activities across departments to ensure smooth pace of play, customer satisfaction, and effective communication.
  • Monitor staffing levels, delegate responsibilities, and adjust assignments based on operational needs and course activity.
  • Address operational challenges, customer concerns, and employee issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Act as the primary point of contact in the absence of senior management.
  • Lead by example in providing exceptional customer service to all guests.
  • Resolve customer complaints, service issues, and special requests while maintaining a positive guest experience.
  • Ensure staff consistently deliver professional, courteous, and knowledgeable service.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and communicate feedback to management while implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Oversee Golf Shop operations, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Supervise retail sales activities, merchandising standards, and customer transactions.
  • Assist with promoting and selling golf merchandise, memberships, range services, and other facility offerings.
  • Ensure all transactions are processed accurately and securely.
  • Review and monitor daily sales activity and operational performance.
  • Assist and oversee golf simulator daily operations.
  • Oversee daily tee sheet operations and reservation management.
  • Coordinate tee times, player flow, tournament bookings, and special event scheduling.
  • Work closely with starters and marshals to maintain pace of play and maximize course utilization.
  • Manage customer requests, cancellations, adjustments, and group bookings as necessary.
  • Train, coach, and mentor golf operations staff to maintain service standards and operational expectations.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide ongoing feedback and guidance.
  • Ensure staff compliance with safety procedures, customer service standards, and facility policies.
  • Assist management with onboarding, scheduling recommendations, and performance evaluations.
  • Oversee inventory levels for retail merchandise, golf operations supplies, and customer service materials.
  • Coordinate receiving, stocking, and organization of merchandise deliveries.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and assist with monthly inventory counts.
  • Ensure merchandise displays remain clean, organized, fully stocked, and visually appealing.
  • Implement merchandising and promotional initiatives to maximize sales and customer engagement.
  • Oversee cash handling procedures and ensure accuracy of all financial transactions.
  • Perform daily register reconciliations, deposits, and end-of-shift reporting.
  • Monitor and investigate discrepancies while maintaining proper financial controls.
  • Assist management with sales reporting and operational analysis.
  • Oversee golf cart operations, ensuring carts are clean, charged, staged, and ready for daily play.
  • Coordinate cart fleet availability based on demand, events, and course utilization.
  • Conduct routine inspections of carts and report maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Ensure cart barns, staging areas, practice facilities, and surrounding operational areas remain clean, organized, and presentable.
  • Monitor inventory of cart, range, and operational supplies.
  • Coordinate operational support for tournaments, outings, leagues, and special events.
  • Ensure proper staffing, cart assignments, event setup, scoring support, and customer service execution.
  • Collaborate with management and other departments to deliver successful events and golf programs.
  • Ensure all golf operations are conducted in accordance with facility policies, safety standards, and operating procedures.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents, and customer concerns.
  • Promote safe golf cart usage and adherence to course rules.
  • Maintain awareness of course conditions and communicate safety-related information to staff and guests.
  • Work closely with Course Maintenance, Food & Beverage, Management, Starters, Marshals, and Outside Operations staff to ensure seamless daily operations.
  • Communicate operational updates, customer concerns, course conditions, and staffing needs to appropriate personnel.
  • Facilitate effective communication between departments to enhance the overall guest experience.
  • Stay informed on golf industry trends, products, operational best practices, and customer service initiatives.
  • Operate food and beverage department as needed, directing and assisting staff with food orders, prep and other needs.
  • Support facility goals related to revenue generation, customer retention, and operational excellence.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
