About The Position

Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of turf equipment at Lodestone and Fantasy Valley golf courses. Perform both preventative and routine maintenance on all equipment. Communicate daily with the Superintendent about cutting heights and daily operations. Wisp Resort is a four-season ski, golf, and recreational destination resort. Because of the nature of the resort business, employees may be asked to perform a range of duties outside of their primary job description as the calendar, weather, operations schedule, and business levels require.

Requirements

  • Maintain the ability to prioritize a variety of tasks under often strict time requirements.
  • Mechanical knowledge and interest in the turfgrass industry.
  • High School diploma or equivalent, unless company sees capability with minimum education
  • Experience as a maintenance mechanic or lead mechanic.
  • Basic English
  • Basic math
  • DRIVER’S LICENSE, UNRESTRICTED, WITH INSURABLE DRIVING RECORD
  • Lifting and moving objects, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling.
  • May have to carry heavy equipment.
  • Exposure to elements and physical standards for tasks may require good physical condition.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and use tools and gear.
  • Manual dexterity, auditory and visual demands.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced technical training or degree/certificate in mechanical repairs preferred.
  • Knowledge of maintenance, repair, griding and setup of cutting reels and rotary blades preferred.
  • Exhibit an ongoing willingness and desire to learn new systems as needed.
  • Works well independently and as a team member within Accounting Office staff and with all departments.
  • Exhibit a willingness to accept change as an inevitable part of a dynamic business and understand responsibilities and requirements evolve.
  • Golf course turf mechanic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Helps develop and perform preventative maintenance program for golf course equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair equipment with mechanical problems.
  • Communicate equipment maintenance and repair needs to the superintendent.
  • Repair and overhaul diesel and gas engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical.
  • Operate shop equipment such as lifts, grinding tools, air compression tools, and welding.
  • Able to research and understand technical literature regarding equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Accountable for the repairs and sharpening of mowing reels and rotary equipment as directed by superintendent.
  • Able to manage and handle oils, grease, and other chemical compounds within the shop areas.
  • Order and receive parts, track inventory, document, and retain repair records. Superintendent completes PO’s.
  • Assist with training golf maintenance staff on the safe and proper use of golf equipment.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean shop and work areas.
  • Prioritize safety and address hazard concerns as #1 priority.
  • Research and recommend future equipment purchases or leases.
  • Operate heavy and light equipment.
  • Perform on-course duties and work as needed and assigned by the superintendent.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to organizational goals, values, and guest services standards.
  • Maintain a guest-centric focus and overall company safety awareness.
