About The Position

Performs difficult technical and responsible administrative work planning and overseeing the maintenance of the municipal golf course. Work is performed under general supervision. This role involves planning, assigning, supervising, and reviewing the work of all golf course maintenance personnel. Responsibilities include maintaining golf course grounds, fairways, tees, greens, irrigation and water systems, and preparing and applying specialized chemicals and fertilizers. The position also involves supervising and evaluating greens maintenance subordinates, maintaining records and reports, and overseeing all functions of a small division or work unit. Development of business plans, staffing plans, goals, objectives, outcomes, policies, and procedures are also key aspects of this role. Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of principles, methods, materials, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of a golf course.
  • Ability to plan and supervise the work of maintenance personnel.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, course guest, and public.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required in specific field of endeavor and 4 years of related experience; OR Associates degree from an accredited college or university and 6-years of job-related experience; OR Year-for-year experience may substitute for the college degree
  • 2 or more years of supervisory experience
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
  • Seven (7) years’ experience in turfgrass maintenance; or equivalent experience
  • Possession of a commercial pesticide license valid in the State of Florida.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of all golf course maintenance personnel
  • Maintains golf course grounds, fairways, tees, greens, irrigation and water systems involving general grass cutting, brush and bush clearing, the cutting, aeration, dressing and watering and sprinkler systems and the preparation and application of specialized chemicals, fertilizers, and soil enrichment materials.
  • Supervises and evaluates golf course greens maintenance subordinates.
  • Maintains and prepares records and reports as directed.
  • Oversees all functions of a small division or work unit/s
  • Develops business plans/staffing plans/models
  • Develops & implements goals, objectives and outcomes
  • Develops, implements and administers policies and procedures
  • Performs related tasks as required.
