Under limited supervision, this role organizes, schedules, coordinates, and provides maintenance for fairways, tees, roughs, and other areas and buildings at Fisher Golf Course. The position serves as a lead worker, providing direction and training for other park maintenance workers assigned to the golf course. The role involves performing and/or directing operational duties such as specialized mowing, greens keeping, pruning, and edging. It ensures optimum playing conditions through daily inspections of turf and vegetation, prompt identification of issues like irrigation disruptions, insect infestations, and soil inadequacies, and implementing appropriate solutions to meet industry standards. The specialist anticipates and assesses unusual maintenance needs due to weather or usage, plans and performs winter maintenance projects, and programs automated irrigation systems. Record-keeping for pesticide applications and monitoring for compliance with safety and environmental mandates are key responsibilities. The role also assists in developing course improvement plans, maintains expertise in golf course maintenance practices, troubleshoots and repairs buildings, signs, fences, and equipment, and operates/trains others on various motorized and power equipment. Safe driving and operation of vehicles are essential, as is maintaining an inventory of chemicals and hazardous materials. The position may involve sharing expertise with other park maintenance operations and assisting with snow removal. Regular and reliable attendance is required, along with performing other related duties as assigned.
