About The Position

This position is for the 2026 - 2027 Academic Year beginning in October 2026 and ending in June 2027. GO Tutor Corps in partnership with AmeriCorps is seeking a GO Fellow to serve as an in-person tutor. This 1,200-hour AmeriCorps service position involves delivering targeted, small-group instruction in Math and/or English Language Arts (ELA) to students in grades 3–12, Monday through Friday during school hours (typically between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m). Tutors are embedded within school communities and support instruction in alignment with each school’s model. In Alexandria Schools, tutors support teachers within classrooms during small-group rotations and lead pull-out small groups. In Arlington Schools, tutors provide small-group academic support within school-based intervention settings. Across all sites, tutors collaborate closely with teachers and instructional coaches. Following training, tutors are expected to independently facilitate small-group instruction, effectively use provided curricula and materials, and maintain organized, engaging learning environments. The role is well-suited for individuals interested in education, mentorship, or youth development, including recent graduates and those exploring a pathway into teaching. Tutoring schedules may vary and tutors will receive a preliminary schedule of up to 10 hours per week, with adjustments communicated in advance. In weeks when tutoring hours are reduced, tutors are expected to complete remaining service hours through additional school support duties.
