About The Position

Gannon University’s GO College program is seeking tutors/mentors to work at Strong Vincent Middle School for after school tutoring, field trip chaperones, and mentoring. GO College is a federally & locally funded college access program that provides free tutoring, mentoring, field trips (campus and career focused) and academic advising for 6th through 8th graders. The program aims to develop career readiness in students by focusing on career and self-development, leadership, equity and inclusion, teamwork, and communication. Tutors will work with students exploring career pathways and life skills, lead workshops, manage events, and gain awareness of student needs. Staff work as a team and tutors will learn to diversify communication styles.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain clearances (criminal, FBI, child-abuse)
• Must be well-rounded academically
• Ability to tutor in math and science is essential
• Outgoing personality
• Ability to work with a variety of personalities, cultures, and learning abilities

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience tutoring/mentoring in a middle school and/or high school
• Availability from 2:45-4:00 PM on both Monday and Wednesday
• Availability during normal school hours for workshop planning and office work
• Must be able to tutor all subjects, but most predominantly math and science
• Must be able to commute to Strong Vincent Middle School

Responsibilities
