About The Position

Support GNSS focused Digital Signal Processing work, including coding and analysis in the Space Geophysics Laboratory (GSL). This role involves supporting the hardware product lifecycle, including design, build, testing, and documentation. The position also entails technical leadership, project development, and support for sponsors and principal investigators. Other related functions as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer or information science, or other applied sciences
  • Three years of experience in digital signal processing or related field
  • Proficiency in Python or C/C++ for algorithm implementation
  • Understanding of real-time processing constraints and optimization techniques
  • Understanding of discrete-time signals and systems
  • Knowledge of spectral analysis and transforms
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree in engineering, computer or information science, or other applied sciences
  • Three years of experience in digital signal processing or related field
  • Experience with GNSS signal processing
  • Strong foundation in signal processing theory
  • Familiarity with common filter designs and implementations
  • Experience with signal processing simulation tools
  • Familiarity with receiver architectures for satellite navigation
  • Knowledge of carrier-phase tracking and positioning algorithms
  • Experience with hardware description languages such as Verilog or VHDL
  • Familiarity with radio frequency (RF) front-end systems

  • Five or more years of experience in digital signal processing

Responsibilities

  • Under guidance propose, design, and implement systems designs. Apply engineering principles and develop best practices/processes to meet project requirements.
  • Use appropriate tools and techniques to create, modify, and maintain products.
  • Under guidance propose, design, and implement data collection and analysis efforts in laboratory or fielded environments from conception to acceptance/rejection of results.
  • Write in a manner suitable for a range of audiences including peers, senior staff and internal stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Participate in project development activities which may include evaluating and defining project requirements, levying hardware requirements, and overseeing hardware development processes.
  • Provide technical oversight and mentorship to other staff as appropriate.
