About The Position

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) is seeking an experienced Guidance and Control (GNC) Engineer to join a highly skilled team of systems engineering technologists and algorithm developers supporting missile system and fire control system design, development, integration, and test. This role involves designing, developing, and deploying embedded algorithms for inertial tracking, navigation, and sensor fusion. The engineer will also develop and validate complex models and simulations using techniques like match filters and convolutional neural networks to detect targets. Responsibilities include evaluating system performance in various scenarios, verifying requirements, and supporting ground and flight test activities, including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL). Opportunities exist to work on diverse programs in different development stages and participate in program reviews and technical interchange meetings.

Requirements

  • BS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or similar STEM degree.
  • Interim Secret Clearance is need to start, therefore you must be a US Citizen.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Prior experience with Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3)/IAMD modeling.
  • Proficiency in SW development environments like Git using programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, FORTRAN, or Ada.
  • Experience with different simulation and test environments (6-DOF IFS, HWIL, flight test experience, etc.)
  • Solid foundation in linear algebra, dynamics, coordinate frame transformations, and state estimation techniques
  • Experience using a Linux-based operating system
  • Familiarity with some, or all, of the following: linear algebra, probability and statistics, state dynamic equations, Kalman filter applications, kinematics and rotating coordinate systems
  • Experience integrating and testing hardware and software in Hardware In-the-Loop (HWIL)
  • Prior experience supporting flight tests
  • Ability to occasionally travel for up to two weeks at a time to White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico to support flight tests.
  • Experience in air and missile defense, development, and testing is required.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy embedded algorithms that perform inertial tracking, inertial navigation and/or sensor fusion
  • Develop, verify, and validate both complex models and simulations that utilize match filters, convolutional neural networks, and other such techniques to detect targets of interest.
  • Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verify system and subsystem level requirements
  • Perform critical studies, analyses, and test activities that support ground and flight test efforts including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities
  • Support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and/or external customers
