About The Position

The GMP Operations Cleaning Supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining sanitary conditions within controlled biopharmaceutical manufacturing environments. Working with a team of 8-18 union staff, you will oversee all cleaning and sanitization activities in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), internal procedures, and quality standards. This position ensures that controlled areas meet stringent regulatory requirements for biopharmaceutical production through proper sanitization protocols, accurate documentation, and effective team leadership. You will serve as the frontline supervisor responsible for training, guiding, and managing cleaning operations that directly impact product quality and regulatory compliance. This role requires hands-on involvement in cleaning activities while providing technical oversight and quality assurance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of experience in similar roles and industries
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) as outlined in 21 CFR Part 211 and Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
  • Ability to pass gowning qualification testing and work fully gowned in cleanroom environments for extended periods
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds, perform continuous standing and walking, and execute sanitization activities including ceiling, wall, and floor mopping

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct oversight and technical guidance to union cleaning crew members, ensuring strict adherence to SOPs, cleaning practices, and cGMP requirements while performing cleaning activities as needed
  • Train new staff on sanitization procedures, disinfectant rotation protocols, and GMP documentation practices, while providing ongoing refresher training to maintain team competency
  • Review, verify, and archive all cleaning documentation daily to ensure compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP), including timely review of area-relevant SOPs and cleaning logs submitted to Quality
  • Verify proper sanitization disinfectant rotation and usage for each cleaning assignment, ensuring correct materials are applied according to established protocols
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, GMP Operations Manager, and Quality teams to manage cleaning schedules that support GMP controlled environments and ancillary support areas
  • Oversee daily waste disposal from GMP manufacturing process area receptacles and maintain adequate inventory of sanitization supplies in organized storage areas
  • Complete required GMP documentation accurately and maintain professional standards while gowned in cleanroom attire, including extended periods of standing, walking, and performing physical cleaning tasks
