About The Position

Boeing Global Services is currently looking for a GMD Sustainment and Repair Mod Tech to join their team in Fort Greely, AK. This position will support the Ground Based Mid-Course Defense (GMD) program. The GMD system is operationally capable to defend the homeland against long-range ballistic missile attacks. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience with assembling, repairing, and testing mechanical and electrical components and systems
  • Able to use a respirator or have been respirator certified
  • Able and willing to travel up to 20% of the time domestically for offsite support and offsite training.
  • Able and willing to ascend and descend vertical work ladders, travel in silo basket (maximum load capacity of 275lbs).
  • Willing and Able to work in confined spaces
  • Lift loads approximately 35 pounds.
  • This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working on the Ground Based Mid-Course Defense (GMD) system a plus
  • Experience working with ordnance is highly desirable.
  • Ability to operate a Forklift, truck mounted crane, and other associated equipment a plus
  • Valid commercial driver’s license a plus
  • Familiarity with any of the following processes: Tool Control, Hazmat Control, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection Programs, & ESD Controls.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles, disassembles and/or modifies systems by changing, removing, replacing or upgrading aerospace vehicle components to correct failures or implement changes.
  • Oversees assembly, disassembly or overhaul.
  • Configures aerospace vehicles and bench test equipment.
  • Troubleshoots complex pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults and repair faulty components.
  • Performs validation/verification testing of systems and components.
  • Documents procedures and established processes to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance (e.g., repairs, test results, applicable modifications and inspection results).
  • Inspects components and verifies repairs for flight worthiness requirements.
  • Oversees training.
