About The Position

The Global Transport Solutions and Qualification Lead will lead Pfizer’s global strategy for transport solution design, packaging qualification, monitoring, compliance, and freight oversight. This highly visible role partners across PharmSci, Regulatory, Quality, Sustainability, and Logistics Operations to deliver safe, compliant, digitally enabled, sustainable, and cost-effective transport solutions. The role establishes the processes, procedures, and controls needed to meet Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), work instruction, and regulatory requirements, while building team capability through onboarding, training, and colleague development. Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Transport, this externally facing leadership role will help advance the Global Transport T3 Blueprint, sponsor priority initiatives, and contribute to the T3 Leadership ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of experience; OR a master's degree with at least 7 years of experience; OR a PhD with 5+ years of experience
  • Experience with regulatory requirements related to temperature-controlled shipping systems, health authority expectations, and/or inbound and outbound trade.
  • Experience leading regional, global, or enterprise-level programs, including governance, operating frameworks, standards, escalation pathways, and performance expectations.
  • Experience driving audit readiness, regulatory engagement, and sustained compliance performance across distributed networks.
  • Proven people leadership experience managing leaders and global teams, including building capability, coaching talent, and managing performance in a matrixed environment.
  • Ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across a highly matrixed organization.
  • Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate risks, trends, and priorities to senior leaders, enterprise forums, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience managing budgets, cost drivers, and business cases.
  • Knowledge of IMEX principles and leadership ecosystem ways of working.
  • Ability to lead across levels, geographies, projects, and virtual teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications and comfort using digital and AI-enabled tools to improve work processes.

Responsibilities

  • Packaging Engineering and Qualification: Lead the design, testing, qualification, and documentation of packaging solutions that protect products during transit. Ensure packaging solutions meet Good Distribution Practice (GDP), Pfizer Quality Standards, and relevant industry requirements. Partner with packaging and Internet of Things (IoT) suppliers to ensure materials and technologies meet global quality expectations.
  • Monitoring and Telematics Capabilities: Define the strategy, qualification, and validation approach for IoT, carrier telematics, and sensor technologies that monitor temperature, location, and humidity across the transportation lifecycle.
  • New Product Launches and Network Changes: Serve as a cross-functional partner across PharmSci, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Quality, Sustainability, and Global Logistics. Ensure transport design strategies are tested, qualified, and launch-ready for new products and network changes. Develop transport strategies that support regulatory filings and new product introductions. Adapt transport designs to changing market needs, emerging capabilities, plant network changes, and evolving supply chain strategies.
  • Sustainability: Partner with Sustainability and Logistics Operations to advance transport and packaging initiatives that support Pfizer’s Net Zero objectives. Design circular supply chain solutions that return, reuse, or recycle shipping materials and reduce waste.
  • Leadership Ecosystem: Translate T5 and T4 Blueprint priorities into clear goals for Global Transport Solutions at the T3 and T2 levels, embedding IMEX principles, process adherence, and resilience across key processes. Build proactive partnerships with Quality, Regulatory, PharmSci, Clinical, Pfizer Global Supply (PGS), Global Supply Chain (GSC), Global Logistics, and external service providers. Manage key vendor relationships and monitor industry developments to identify new capabilities and innovation opportunities.
  • Global Process Governance: Own global transport processes, standards, work instructions, training requirements, and enabling digital capabilities to drive compliance, adoption, and operational excellence across the network. Continuously improve transport processes and documentation in response to business priorities, regulatory expectations, emerging technologies, and lessons learned. Strengthen inspection and audit readiness by addressing findings, mitigating risks, and driving timely corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Organization, Training and Development: Assess resources and capabilities to meet customer needs and emerging business priorities. Ensure onboarding, training, and development programs build capability and improve process efficiency. Lead talent management and development across Transport Solutions and Qualification, promoting inclusion, growth, and cross-functional career experiences.
