About The Position

Cardinal Health Canada, with over 1,400 employees nationwide, is an essential link in the Canadian healthcare supply chain, providing over 70,000 products to healthcare facilities and medical professionals across the country. We are currently seeking a Global Trade Operations Manager to add to our team in Vaughan, ON if you are located in GTA area the expectation is to be on-site 2 days a week. The Global Trade Operations Manager is the operating authority within the function for import and export operational execution in Canada. The role requires experience and knowledge of import/export methods and procedures as well as understanding of changing landscapes and trade compliance impacts to the supply chain. This is a highly cross functional role with visibility to global teams and senior leadership that supports supply chain operations, provides guidance on export and import compliance issues and engages with government agencies to facilitate trade. Your Contributions to the Organization will be to: Responsible for the trade compliance and supply chain support in Canada. Develop and conduct trade compliance training within and outside the function. Support 3PL/warehouse operations and inventory management in the region Support the compliant and efficient movement of products and services into/out of Canada through partnership with internal and external stakeholders Interface with freight forwarders, government officials, custom brokers, internal and external customers on all matters pertaining to import and export regulations The job entails managing and executing on daily tasks of export document review and occasional more involved problem-solving, as situations arise. Manage customs brokers, forwarders, and other logistic partners deployed to support trade operations. Works with outside service providers to develop, implement and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI) with a goal to drive ongoing process improvement. Evaluate new government and trade compliance requirements to ensure standard operating procedures are updated accordingly. Partner with internal functions to develop and execute defined procedures. Serve as a functional expert in Global Trade matters for the region by using experience and knowledge of customs regulations, as well as other partner governmental agencies, to promote increased compliance and support the efficient flow of goods across borders. Drive improvements on cost, lead time and process efficiency through data analytics, automated tool utilization and robust data management Manages existing trade systems to facilitate trade activities and interfaces with outside providers to execute import clearance and export declarations. Drive and complete other projects as assigned. Supervise internal employees and any dedicated resources from outside service providers; develop and mentor high-potential personnel in order to continuously build a stronger team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in business, Logistics, Supply Chain or related field preferred
  • A minimum of 5 to 8 years in Import/Export experience required.
  • A minimum of 2 to 5 years of people management experience preferred
  • Strong focus on compliance.
  • Strong working knowledge of international business practices, international transportation and customs requirements.
  • Understanding of Customs Regulations in Canada.
  • Thoroughly familiarity with international shipping documents such as commercial invoice, packing list, air waybill, and export license; including consignee information, INCOTERMS, harmonized tariff code and nomenclature, country of origin, customs value, export classification, and license data.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, resourcefulness and the ability to solve issues independently or in collaboration with others.
  • Must have familiarity with trade systems
  • Ability to travel approximately 10-25%, possible international.
  • Working experience with Canada’s PIP security program.
  • Working knowledge of Canada’s Customs Self-Assessment program (CSA).
