About The Position

The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. is seeking a Global Supplier Relations Management Director to lead the development, implementation, and execution of global sourcing strategies for assigned commodities. This role is crucial for achieving broad-based business objectives, setting vision, and ensuring the implementation of procurement strategies across Brands and the Supply Chain. The position involves supporting the management of Joint Value Creation partners focused on mutual revenue growth, innovation access, and margin optimization. The Director will manage $150 million in packaging spend and one direct report. Collaboration throughout the supply chain is key to driving cost, quality, and supply improvements through supplier management, standardization, and negotiations. The role requires developing and advocating for sourcing strategies, working closely with internal departments like R&D, Packaging, and Marketing to meet GSR commitments. It also includes leading cross-brand supplier negotiations, contract development, and approving agreements. Maintaining strategic supplier relationships for collaborative working relationships is essential. The Director must stay informed about industry best practices and technology trends, educating team members and business partners. Responsibilities also include working on global regulatory compliance, environmental best practices, mitigating supplier and industrial risks, optimizing sourcing activities, leading the budget process, and supporting sustainability efforts. Specifically for the secondary and tertiary packaging portfolio, the role involves developing pricing methodologies, optimizing order quantities and MOQs, exploring new printing technologies for speed to market, seeking solutions for plastic sustainability, defining material strategies, and recommending optimal network designs. The goal is to ensure a competitive, stable, and efficient supply chain for packaging materials.

Requirements

  • Experience in a packaging procurement global category role, covering primary rigid plastic packaging.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience.
  • Must be a fact-based decision maker, pragmatic, resourceful, and proactive.
  • Must have a “can-do” and “will-do” attitude with respect to accomplishing goals, making the numbers, and satisfying the needs of internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and execution of global sourcing strategies for assigned commodities.
  • Set vision and ensure the implementation of procurement strategies across Brands and the Supply Chain.
  • Support the management of Joint Value Creation partners focused on mutual revenue growth, innovation access, and margin optimization.
  • Manage $150 million in packaging spend and one manager.
  • Drive cost, quality, and supply improvements through Supplier management, standardization, and negotiations for assigned commodities.
  • Develop, advocate, and implement sourcing strategies for assigned commodities to achieve short and long-term objectives.
  • Ensure GSR commitments meet all internal requirements by working closely with R&D, Packaging, and Marketing.
  • Support cross-functional management/enablement of Joint Value Creation relationships with key partners.
  • Lead cross-Brand Supplier negotiations to ensure the best overall cost position for the Organization for assigned commodities.
  • Negotiate, develop, and approve contracts, agreements, supplier direction, and business awards.
  • Ensure a collaborative working relationship throughout the Supply Chain through overall strategic supplier relationship management.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of industry best practices and technology trends and educate team members and business partners.
  • Work with relevant internal departments on strategies related to changing global regulatory compliance requirements and environmental best practices.
  • Develop and lead the strategy to mitigate Supplier and industrial risks within assigned commodities.
  • Utilize tools and processes to optimize sourcing, supplier activities, and efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with team members to prioritize and drive implementation.
  • Lead the budget process across Brands for assigned commodities.
  • Support sustainability efforts within assigned commodities.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities and establish sources for new technologies and markets in collaboration with innovation groups.
  • Develop a pricing methodology with converters that deliver transparency, competitiveness, stability, and ease of implementation for the secondary and tertiary packaging portfolio.
  • Develop a methodology with Material Management to find the best balance between order quantities and cost and design a process for a regular review of the MOQ considering cost vs. inventory/E&O.
  • Focus on new printing technologies and supply processes that could deliver shorter lead-times, smaller runs, supply security, late-stage differentiation, and solutions for speed to market during the development process.
  • Seek solutions on plastic sustainability (PCR, Ocean Plastics, etc.).
  • Define a material strategy to ensure capacity, security of supply, lead-time, certification, and best value for money.
  • Review packaging format harmonization and plastic supply chain with converters.
  • Recommend and execute best network design in terms of total cost (including inventory, E&O, transport...) and lead-time.
  • Draft an updated sourcing strategy with an adequate supply base (technical capabilities, competitiveness, location, turnkey options...).
