Global Sourcing Manager, Fiber & Optics
About The Position
Fluidstack is building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI, aiming to deliver 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else. This involves rethinking every layer of the stack, from acquiring power to designing and operating data centers. The company is focused on speed and scale as key differentiators. The Supply Chain Team is central to this mission, working on problems such as supplying tens of gigawatts of compute, qualifying and dual-sourcing critical equipment, and making supply chain a driver of speed rather than a constraint. They also aim to build the most accurate supply chain prediction models using AI to forecast lead times, demand, and disruptions.
Requirements
- Sourced optics, fiber, or connectivity components at high volume.
- Understand optics well enough (form factors, reaches, compatibility) to identify spec mismatches.
- Qualified second-source components and managed associated engineering skepticism.
- Track consumption against forecast weekly and implement early corrections.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with 800G/1.6T optics markets.
- Experience with cable assembly manufacturing.
- Experience with interop testing programs.
- Experience with commodity price hedging.
Responsibilities
- Own the fiber and optics category, including transceivers, fiber cabling, and connectivity components.
- Negotiate volume agreements for optics, focusing on unit price and quantity to achieve significant cost savings.
- Dual-source transceiver types and manage interoperability qualification to ensure second sources are viable.
- Forecast optics demand based on network designs and ensure supply meets installation schedules.
