About The Position

Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states. Waymo’s cars navigate the world autonomously, but our global security posture is steered by the expertise of professionals like you. Safety is our foundation and is at the heart of everything we do. As a core member of the Global Security team, you will manage the technical infrastructure that protects our people, properties, and physical operations. You will be responsible for the seamless integration of our global security ecosystem, ensuring that disparate platforms—from access control and video to communication and risk-monitoring systems—work in concert. Your focus will be on the architectural reliability and data flow of these systems, applying technical rigor to ensure that root data sources feed downstream applications without disruption. This role follows a hybrid work schedule and reports to The Head of Physical Security

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience in security systems engineering, systems integration, or technical infrastructure management in any enterprise-scale environment
  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to act as a technical liaison between engineering functions and operational stakeholders to drive system adoption
  • Experience in technical problem-solving and leading formal Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations to drive system improvements
  • Demonstrated experience navigating technology through multi-jurisdictional privacy and organizational compliance assessments
  • A generalist technical mindset with experience managing complex, interconnected technology stacks and an ability to adapt to new, emerging technologies

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing the logic and integration of communication systems (Radio/VOIP) into broader security operations
  • Proficiency in the core principles of database management and data architecture, with a focus on how root data sources feed downstream systems and the administrative rigor required to maintain controls that prevent changes from impacting critical system performance
  • Basic proficiency in scripting (SQL, Python, or Bash) to automate system health checks or data exports via API
  • Advanced experience in utilizing Generative AI for process documentation and workflow automation

Responsibilities

  • Architect the Ecosystem: Act as the primary authority on how disparate systems (VMS, ACS, Radio, Phone, CEM, and Case Management) integrate. You will translate the security roadmap into technical reality, ensuring new systems complement rather than complicate the existing environment
  • Interrogate & Validate: Lead the technical vetting process for new technology proposals. You will drive these systems through internal approval lifecycles, working closely with IT, Privacy, and Legal to ensure alignment with international privacy frameworks and complex regional regulatory requirements
  • Operationalize & Administer: Design and implement robust Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) frameworks. You will assess the technical skills required for new platforms and establish the administrative processes, internal troubleshooting playbooks, and triage workflows for third-party platforms
  • Bridge Operations & Infrastructure: Serve as the primary technical liaison with operational security teams to ensure frictionless end-user acceptance of new systems, expanded capabilities, and site-specific device additions. You will coordinate with cross-functional partners to manage maintenance windows and develop contingency plans that prioritize operational continuity
  • Maximize AI Capabilities: Actively utilize AI tools to streamline your day-to-day functions and interrogate third-party platforms to maximize their native AI/analytic capabilities (e.g., anomaly detection, automated reporting, and predictive maintenance)
  • Drive Operational Excellence: Develop and manage tracking mechanisms for system status, device outages, and resolution timelines. You will lead technical Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations following system disruptions, transforming insights into corrective measures that drive continuous improvement

Benefits

  • Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program
  • equity incentive plan
  • generous Company benefits program
