About The Position

The Global Security Senior Director (SD)/AMER overseas manages and directs regionally two primary security programs and the AMER Global Security (GS) colleague team. The two foundational programs - Colleague and Site Security (CS&S) and Product Integrity for Patient Safety (PIPS) serve as Global Security’s core pillars driving consistent execution of operations across all regions. The SD AMER oversees the investigative and physical security work performed by the reporting team, supporting both business security and safety needs as well as illicit medicines, patient protection and education program efforts. Oversees, manages, and directs regionally two primary security programs and the AMER Global Security (GS) colleague team. The SD AMER oversees the investigative and physical security work performed by the reporting team, supporting both business security and safety needs as well as illicit medicines, patient protection and education program efforts. Decisions in this role have significant enterprise‑wide impact, including long‑term risk mitigation, colleague safety, patient trust, and business continuity across Pfizer’s AMER operations. Stakeholder alignment with the regional team and safety professionals will deliver results for the two core pillars consistently across the globe. Reports to the Vice President (VP), Global Security Operations and works in close partnership with the SDs’ APAC and EMEA and the SD Physical Risk Mitigation (PRM) program to ensure regional execution aligns with Pfizer’s global strategy, contributing to the development and implementation of standardized global reporting frameworks, shared metrics, unified technology and case management platforms that support a cohesive and measurable programs across all regions. Cultivates and maintains close relationships with Pfizer business leaders including Country Managers, Site Leaders, Site Security and Information Security Officers and externally with law enforcement and regulatory agencies, relevant nonprofit and non-government organizations to ensure effective execution of GS responsibilities. Manages all GS personnel assigned to the AMER region and will ensure resources are directed at the most significant threats to colleagues and business operations while promoting patient health & safety. Coordinates with the Pfizer Resilience Center, and all of Pfizer’s executive protection program activities for the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and when needed, Executive Leadership Team (ELT) in the region. The SD AMER oversees the crisis management program in close coordination with the SD PRM.The SD AMER is responsible for ensuring Pfizer’s crisis readiness and site security in the AMER region, working closely with the SD PRM. The SD AMER is also responsible for activating the crisis management process when crisis necessitates such action in the region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 10-15 years of law enforcement/security experience that includes developing and conducting transnational smuggling/contraband trafficking investigations and/or physical/corporate security including command center operations, port security, executive protection, and building security.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of supervisory experience of an investigative team and/or oversight of an approved undercover investigative operation/project and/or security operations is preferred.
  • People management/development experience is required.
  • Individual must be able to both lead a team and perform individual tasks as required by role.
  • Must be comfortable interacting with and briefing very senior executives, including CEO and ELT.
  • Ability to present effectively and under tight deadlines is critical; presenting to large groups, provide training to law enforcement, customs, other government officials, the public and internal colleagues as needed.
  • Ability to create and drive a business case for needed improvements or enhancements to the team and function.
  • Ability to oversee multiple complex contracts to ensure completion of assigned tasks.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required as the primary working language for cross‑regional collaboration, executive communication, and global stakeholder engagement.
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
  • Position requires permanent work authorization in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience working in the AMER region with regional law enforcement authorities, driving capacity building efforts and cultivating partnerships with regional US Embassy staff preferred.
  • Fluency in any of these languages: Spanish, Portuguese and/or French.
  • Position requires significant desk work, including reading writing and participating effectively in meetings.
  • Walking, climbing, and conducting inspections with foreign law enforcement in warm wet climates such as coastal seaports, airport warehouses, inside cargo containers, and at raid locations in foreign countries is required.
  • Ability to gather and critically evaluate information and prepare written documents that clearly and concisely identify the issues presented and their proposed resolutions.
  • Ability to maintain the attitude that there are no problems, only solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees, directs, and mentors a team of security professionals who manage security, safety and investigative activities for the company in the AMER region.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with prosecutors, law enforcement, judges and key political leaders as well as outside counsel and private investigative companies who support GS efforts in countries throughout the AMER region.
  • Aligns regional enforcement and education/awareness initiatives with global strategy, ensuring consistency in program execution, reporting and execution/budget prioritization.
  • Seeks opportunities working with regional Public Affairs and Medical Affairs to promote internal and external media related content that supports Pfizer’s efforts to protect patient health and safety, increase patient awareness, educate healthcare professionals and reduce counterfeit medicine demand.
  • Contributes to the evolution of global PIPS and CS&S programs by sharing regional insights, challenges, and innovations helping shape strategic direction and resource prioritization.
  • Provides regular and accurate reporting to VP, Global Security Operations and GS managers.
  • Sets strategic and individual goals for regional team members to advance global PIPS and CS&S programs.
  • Periodically reviews the interaction and investigative activities of regional GS personnel and their interactions with consultants in the AMER region to assess consultant’s accountability, value of services, and compliance with pertinent rules and regulations.
  • Ensures FCPA regulations are strictly followed.
  • Develops opportunities to evaluate and conduct effective product integrity/anti-counterfeiting training to law enforcement agencies in the region.
  • Participates directly in training and speaking opportunities that necessitate SD AMER level engagement.
  • Reviews and approves all investigative matters and activities in the Pfizer/Compliance/GS databases.
  • Accountable for regional adherence to Corporate Policies 119 (Crisis Management), 118 (Notification and Management of Security Incidents), and 117 (Workplace Violence).
  • Coordinates directly with SD PRM to manage CS&S/physical security responsibilities for the region.
  • Responsible to ensure regional sites meet GS minimum security requirements and initiates CM actions in the region when crisis dictates.
  • Oversees physical security responsibilities for business adjustments in region (downsizing, site closures/openings, etc.) coordinates closely with Digital on cyber security issues and ISO network.
  • Manages, directs, oversees regional support for Pfizer’s executive protection program.
  • Interacts directly with CEO/ELT members when in region as needed.
  • Manages all regional ELT security details including residential, online and travel security and Armed Security Officer requirements in region.
  • Coordinates with relevant business units as needed to accomplish regional objectives of the program, such as the air program leadership, site leaders, etc.
  • Maintains awareness of threat levels faced by Pfizer and its ELT members while also maintaining an awareness of other industry programs.
  • Coordinates with law enforcement as needed.
  • Responsible for regional travel security awareness, monitoring, hazardous country visits and related colleague travel.
  • Ensures appropriate regional use of Mass Notification Tool and awareness and monitoring of threats against Pfizer.
  • Maintains an excellent working relationship with all Pfizer business and GS colleagues; and quickly develops a Pfizer corporate and regional leadership knowledge that is essential to the incumbent’s performance in the position.
  • Sets strategic and individual goals for regional team members to advance Pfizer anti-counterfeiting and other compliance related support efforts.
  • Provides strategic oversight and accountability for enterprise investigations addressing security concerns, threats, and program integrity risks, including complex fraud investigations and Suspicious Order Monitoring (SOM) investigations related to controlled substances.
  • Responds timely to Pfizer business needs and questions.
  • Develops and maintains effective external relationships with relevant government, private and public sector entities to advance Pfizer’s overall mission.
