About The Position

This position is responsible for monitoring alarm, surveillance, and access control systems, reviewing threat reports, and assisting with security operations and communication with law enforcement. The role involves troubleshooting and evaluating card access and door control systems, managing and escalating risk issues, and acting as a Subject Matter Expert for the Global Security Operations Center. The specialist will handle incoming communications, coordinate security responses to incidents, and identify/assess potential impacts to the company. They will leverage various security systems, activate mass notification systems, and prepare reports. The role requires protecting sensitive information, working independently with limited supervision, and collaborating within a team environment. The ideal candidate will be service-centric, professional, possess strong situational awareness, and sound judgment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or its equivalent (GED, for example)
  • Work experience which demonstrates performance competency
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Ability to obtain First aid/CPR/AED certification within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to interact with personnel at all levels within the corporation, outside agencies, and the general public in a friendly, positive, and professional manner
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use office automation/communication software and tools currently used in the MillerKnoll office environment, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to solve problems and de-escalate situations in a non-confrontational manner
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple job duties while maintaining the highest levels of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Ability to prioritize decisions based upon multiple criteria and identifiable standards of policies and procedures
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and able to operate company computer systems, including critical fire, life safety, and security system programs
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision

Responsibilities

  • Dispatching, access control, alarm, and surveillance system monitoring
  • Reviewing threat reports and assisting with security operations and law enforcement communication
  • Troubleshooting, evaluating, and accurately reporting card access and door control systems
  • Managing and escalating risk and customer-impacting issues
  • Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Global Security Operations Center
  • Handling incoming communications, including routine and emergency calls
  • Coordinating security responses to activities and incidents
  • Identifying, assessing, and coordinating the response to incidents that have the potential to impact the company adversely
  • Escalating and disseminating incident information to management
  • Responding to inquiries, intake reports of security-related issues, recording all calls, and coordinating response in line with procedures, guidelines, and policies
  • Monitoring proprietary software, external intelligence feeds/alerts, access control, and video monitoring systems to identify and assess incidents that could impact the company
  • Leveraging Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), radio, access control, fire alarm, burglar alarm, and video monitoring systems to facilitate security response
  • Activating mass notification system and generating written alerts about incidents that have impacted the business
  • Escalating and notifying management of significant security incidents and events
  • Conducting initial review of threats and contacting law enforcement in alignment with established procedures and policies
  • Processing urgent requests for information from law enforcement
  • Routing calls to the appropriate party
  • Placing fire monitoring software in test and bypass for system maintenance
  • Monitoring company retail stores when only one associate is present at the site
  • Acting as a liaison between the physical security team and vendors
  • Reporting and recording all facilities maintenance requests for company properties
  • Conducting ongoing accurate audits of security systems to determine proper functionality
  • Preparing reports and activity logs and communicating the information as needed
