About The Position

Nippon Express USA is expanding its sales presence across the United States in several key strategic industry verticals to achieve Group Strategic Objectives. This role is for individuals with a proven track record of selling a range of freight forwarding services in the Healthcare, Semiconductor, Electronics, and Industrial sectors. The position is hybrid, requiring 4 days in the office and 1 day remote. The salary range is $130,000 - $147,000 with additional performance-based incentives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in marketing, business administration, or economics.
  • 3+ years of business experience, including significant experience in sales and marketing preferably in a freight forwarding/logistics business.
  • Valid state motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Willingness to travel extensively.
  • Strong Communication skills – ability to conduct Sr. level corporate meetings and executive presentations.
  • Strong self-motivation and strategic focus – ability to quickly identify key decision makers and opportunities.
  • Ability to close business – clearly identify short and long-term Global Opportunities.
  • High level of negotiating skills – ability to negotiate global contracts and processes.
  • Strong coaching skills. Coach and mentor Regional/Local Sales staff.
  • Established Annual Revenue Target / Operation Profit Target.
  • Update Target Account list on a weekly basis.
  • Issue Customer quotations.
  • New Business reported and maintained on a monthly basis.
  • Attend meetings and report sales activity on a weekly basis as requested.
  • Ability to utilize CRM tools for clear and timely sales updates.
  • Strong MS Office skills - PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Strong leadership, management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve revenue targets by securing business with new global customers and selling additional services to current global customers.
  • Lead and establish annual global Account plans for target global accounts in conjunction with all global/regional account managers.
  • Build a qualified pipeline of opportunities by understanding customer buying cycles, requirements, and decision-makers.
  • Drive global sales revenue growth from target global accounts as per the account plans through deep engagement internally with all regions and external engagement with customers both in Japan and overseas.
  • Support new global size accounts development opportunities in conjunction with all regional/country/global sales teams.
  • Clearly identify and set Sales Pipeline within the Industry vertical from all global target accounts.
  • Engage with all regional commercial teams to set winning sales strategy for each account and align the account plans accordingly.
  • Work with all regions on major issues including tender management, implementation, spot quotations, and other account-related issues critical to onboarding new sales opportunities.
  • Maintain an active understanding of market trends, customer pain points, and competitive positioning to inform strategy and customer engagement.
  • Support or lead ad hoc projects undertaken by the Corporate Sales Strategy HQ.
  • Maintain personal contact with large key customers.
  • Research customer needs and develop application of products and services in an effective manner.
  • Determine market strategies & goals for each product.
  • Set trade lane strategy with continued collaboration with multi-regional stakeholders.
  • Research and develop lists of potential customers by doing market research.
  • Secure information to create a profile of customer Supply Chain to evaluate necessary solutions to be presented.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments that affect Trade Lane/Vertical.
  • Establish & maintain industry contacts that lead to sales.
  • Work with NEU/global sales staff and branch operations staff to establish a communication path with and within the customer to ensure sales opportunities for products & services.
