About The Position

Caterpillar's Electric Power Division (EPD) is seeking a Global S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) Manager to oversee planning for their Enclosed Power Solutions and Switchgear business. This role is crucial for managing the global S&OP process for custom power solutions and switchgear products within Large Electric Power Solutions, focusing on containerized solutions. The position requires collaboration across multiple internal and external manufacturing facilities, as well as various internal functional areas. The S&OP process manager will integrate demand, supply, and financial planning into a forward-looking plan, linking strategic and operational plans to develop optimal production plans and strategic planning for future periods. This role involves managing supply response communications across multiple facilities, coordinating demand, network, and capacity planning, analyzing forecast accuracy, solving business problems with a focus on root causes, developing statistical models for decision-making, and liaising with operational management on resource planning. The outcomes of this process will be communicated to senior leadership within Large Electric Power.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
  • Extensive knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Working knowledge of tools, approaches and practices for determining production demand and ability to manage resources needed to provide satisfactory levels of service.
  • Working knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.
  • Working knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
  • Detailed S&OP experience, managing multiple data inputs and being able to succinctly provide accurate and detailed responses.
  • Detailed knowledge of ERP systems and Caterpillar internal ordering systems, this role must understand how forecast is transposed into real demand.
  • Data manipulation and presentation skills, driving the team and processes forward to accommodate huge growth.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Global S&OP process for custom power solutions and switchgear products in Large Electric Power Solutions focused on containerized solutions products.
  • Integrate demand, supply, and financial planning into a forward-thinking plan based on input from sales, marketing, manufacturing, distribution, and finance.
  • Develop the most beneficial production plan along with strategic planning for time periods outside of the execution window.
  • Manage supply response communications across 3 internal facilities and 10+ external manufacturing facilities.
  • Coordinate demand planning, network optimization, and capacity planning across different departments and regions.
  • Analyze the quality and accuracy of forecasts and take corrective actions if needed.
  • Analyze and solve business problems with a focus on understanding root causes and driving forward-looking opportunities.
  • Develop and utilize statistical modeling to drive decision-making.
  • Liaise with operational management teams on all matters related to resource planning.
  • Own cadence and processes that run on a strict schedule, communicating outcomes to senior leaders within Large Electric Power.
