About The Position

Weatherford has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Global Quality Control Director (Offshore). The position will be based in downtown Houston, Texas. The Global Quality Control Director provides global leadership, strategy, and governance for Quality Control across Weatherford’s Repair & Maintenance (R&M) and Offshore Services Operations. The role establishes and maintains global Quality Control standards, inspection and testing requirements, equipment release controls, measurement systems, and service-readiness processes to ensure products, equipment, and services consistently meet customer, regulatory, industry, and company requirements prior to release or use. Working closely with Quality, Engineering, Operations, Product Lines, and Geozone leadership, the position drives standardization, process discipline, and effective quality controls across the organization. The role is accountable for governing inspection and verification programs, nonconformance and corrective action processes, calibration and measurement systems, quality performance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives. Through the application of risk-based controls, data-driven decision making, and global quality governance, the Director identifies and mitigates systemic risks, prevents recurring failures, strengthens compliance with the Weatherford Management System and applicable API and ISO standards, and promotes a culture of prevention, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction across all Geozones.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems, Quality Control and Quality Assurance principles, inspection and testing processes, nonconformance management, corrective actions, and root cause analysis.
• Demonstrated experience leading Quality Control programs, inspection and testing activities, nonconformance management, corrective action processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to establish quality standards, drive process improvements, and deliver measurable business results.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across a global matrix organization.

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related technical discipline from an accredited university (or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience).
• Five plus years’ experience in a Capital Equipment Services organization
• Ten plus years of progressive experience in Quality, Quality Control, Repair & Maintenance (R&M), or a related technical/operational environment with a preference for offshore or subsea capital equipment knowledge and experience.
• Experience with advanced quality methodologies, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), process capability analysis, and risk-based quality management.
• Experience implementing and maintaining Quality Management Systems and compliance with industry standards, including ISO 9001 and/or API requirements.
• Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in a global, matrix organization and drive standardization across multiple locations and regions.
• Experience using quality metrics, root cause analysis, risk-based controls, and performance data to improve operational and customer outcomes.

• Experience with Weatherford quality systems and tools, including WPTS and OEPS.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the global R&M and Services Operations Quality Control strategy aligned with business priorities.
• Set global minimum requirements, procedures, tools, records, terminology, and governance.
• Standardize inspection, testing, status, acceptance, hold-point, release, and readiness practices across Geozones.
• Control local adaptations for regulatory, customer, technical, or operational needs.
• Own global Quality Control processes and tools.
• Lead governance reviews of systemic risk, implementation, control effectiveness, recurring failures, and actions.
• Establish risk-based Inspection and Test Plan requirements with Engineering, Product Lines, Quality Assurance, customers, and technical standards.
• Define acceptance criteria, critical characteristics, inspection stages, hold and witness points, responsibilities, records, and release authority.
• Govern required receiving, in-process, final, functional, pressure, and performance inspections and tests.
• Control nondestructive examination, independent verification, witnessing, and reinspection after correction or rework.
• Maintain traceable inspection and test status linked to the asset, serial number, work order, traveler, or service record.
• Standardize reports and objective evidence for independent conformity verification.
• Govern measuring equipment used to inspect, test, verify, or release R&M and service equipment.
• Set controls for identification, calibration, traceability, protection, storage, verification, and overdue or out-of-tolerance equipment.
• Assess affected results when equipment is out of tolerance.
• Monitor calibration compliance and recurring measurement risks.
• Ensure measurement capability meets defined tolerances and acceptance criteria.
• Establish risk-based release and readiness gates for R&M outputs, service assets, equipment, and records.
• Define hold, release, exception, and no-go requirements before shipment, mobilization, job start or return to service.
• Prevent critical-equipment release without complete inspection, testing, calibration, configuration, concession, preservation, and readiness evidence.
• Require final record review, release status, traceability, equipment identification, and approved exceptions.
• Convert readiness, operational control, risk, competency, spares, and lessons-learned requirements into verifiable evidence.
• Monitor releases with open quality-critical items and escalate release-discipline failures.
• Govern nonconformance, corrective and preventive action, root cause, containment, disposition, and effectiveness.
• Ensure timely identification, segregation, control, disposition, reinspection, approval, and closure of nonconforming outputs.
• Scale root-cause analysis to severity, recurrence, complexity, and customer or operational impact.
• Address underlying process, system, technical, supplier, competency, or organizational causes - not only defects.
• Require evidence of action implementation and effectiveness before closure.
• Govern repeat-failure coding, recurrence reviews, cross-Geozone trends, and systemic-risk escalation.
• Convert lessons learned into controlled updates to procedures, plans, instructions, training, engineering, supplier controls, and readiness gates.
• Support implementation and continual improvement of the Weatherford Management System across R&M and Services Operations.
• Ensure Quality Control supports applicable API Q1, API Q2, ISO 9001, customer, licensing, regulatory, and certification requirements.
• Partner with the Quality Management System and Audit function on risk-based audits, certification readiness, findings, corrective actions, and compliance.
• Support customer, certification-body, regulatory, and internal audits.
• Provide Quality Control evidence and expertise for significant findings or certification risks.
• Meet local requirements through approved controls without weakening global minimums.
• Maintain a global scorecard of leading and lagging Quality Control indicators.
• Analyze results by Geozone, facility, Product Line, equipment, process, defect, detection point, and recurring failure mode.
• Prioritize improvements by safety and customer risk, severity, recurrence, nonproductive time, cost of poor quality, readiness, and business impact.
• Lead cross-functional projects to eliminate recurring defects, strengthen release discipline and process capability, and prevent escapes.
• Report performance, systemic risks, actions, progress, and outcomes to the GBL Quality Sr. Director and leadership.
• Promote a prevention-based Quality culture that uses results, weak signals, failures, and lessons learned to improve controls and decisions.
• Ensure ethical compliance with Weatherford governance, policies, the Management System, laws, standards, and Rules to Live By.
• Prioritize Quality, safety, security, and environmental protection.
• Use Stop Work Authority for unacceptable safety, quality, integrity, or nonconformance risk.
• Ensure Quality Control meets customer, contractual, legal, regulatory, and certification requirements.
• Promote open escalation of quality risks without retaliation or pressure to release nonconforming equipment or services.
• Serves and maintains effective communications with all key stakeholders both internal, including Quality, SVP Product Lines, Product Line, Global Service Delivery, and where appropriate external.
• As requested by the VP PL or Quality VP, support client visits and constant communication to demonstrate our commitment and promote the Weatherford Quality and HSE process.
• Regularly and clearly communicate status of annual objectives, challenges you are facing meeting your objectives, issues you have identified that would likely impact your objectives, and quality concerns you have observed that require further elevation.
• Monitor Global Product Line(s) NPT, Cost of Poor Quality, and Process / Procedure adherence identifying under performance and working with Quality and PL management to improve performance on targeted KPIs.
