About The Position

This role supports and advances projects for steering & suspension across the aftermarket (AFM). It requires a forward-thinking Global Product Engineer who blends technical knowledge with entrepreneurial drive, customer-focused innovation, and cross-functional collaboration. The position supports the global progression of key AFM initiatives and reports to the Engineering Lead for steering & suspension, AFM.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (mechanical engineering education with relevant industrial experience will be considered).
  • 3+ years of experience in the automotive and or aftermarket, with design and/or manufacturing of knowledge.
  • Experience with steering & suspension passenger car systems preferred
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to analyze data and produce reports.
  • Builds trust with key stakeholders and understands the customer perspective.
  • Proactive self-starter who works with own-initiative and fosters a culture of innovation and customer focus.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across global, cross-functional teams.
  • Adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced, evolving technical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for steering & suspension product across aftermarket.
  • Engage with customers and cross-functional stakeholders (product line, purchasing, etc.) to identify unmet needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Deliver engineering responses to customer support and service inquiries.
  • Execute development and validation of aftermarket products sourced from third parties.
  • Complete bench-marking of competitor products
  • Oversee product testing for new-to-range products and for the introduction of new supply suppliers.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation: product attributes, specifications, BOMs, global requirements, benchmarking, and design reviews.
  • Ensure timely documentation of engineering changes and updates to aftermarket commercial and technical systems.
  • Load and maintain engineering data in NPI, PIM and SAP systems.
  • Develop and maintain Global Technical Requirements and Design Validation Plan & Reports for aftermarket steering & suspension product.
  • Support quality investigations and resolution of product concerns.
  • Support audit of new supply sources for steering & suspension products.
  • Coordinate with global functions: product line and purchasing
  • Engage with regional functions: category management, customer & supplier quality, sales and technical service teams to ensure smooth product launches.
  • Partner with PHINIA and third-party suppliers to enhance AFM efficiency and revenue.
  • Provide technical guidance to the aftermarket Global Engineering Manager and broader business.
  • Product validation for new-to-range and MCIP resourcing activities.
  • Engineering authority on concessions and deviations.
  • Engineering authority on Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • Decision-making authority on engineering changes and customer-driven adaptation
