About The Position

Our Common Home is a fast-growing global network comprising 20 entities worldwide. As the network matures, it is transitioning toward an operational model that involves receiving funds directly from diverse external institutional donors and establishing a robust regranting mechanism to distribute funds to local partners. Structurally, this requires an overarching global governance framework that aligns the decentralised network with the core legal and fiduciary standards of the network's founding entity, the Swiss Association. To support this next phase of growth, we are seeking an experienced Global Network Compliance & Capacity Consultant. The primary purpose of this 12-month, part-time consultancy is to build a unified compliance infrastructure, deliver targeted policy reviews, and design risk-mitigation frameworks necessary to safely launch regranting initiatives, satisfy Swiss Association oversight, and help diversify the network's funding base.

Requirements

  • Over 10 years of compliance, operations and grants administration experience within the international non-profit/NGO sector.
  • A proven track record of establishing compliance functions, managing cradle-to-grave grants administration and leading risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Extensive experience reviewing and updating organisational governance documents, including procurement, anti-fraud and anti-bribery policies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and delivering remote compliance, budget tracking or grants management training to international field staff and local partners across diverse cultural contexts.
  • Experience supporting compliance, governance or grants management across multiple countries and working with decentralised international organisations or networks.
  • Strong collaborative and cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to advise executive leadership, finance and fundraising teams effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing and deploying a global governance framework that standardises core operational rules across all 20 network entities, ensuring their local activities remain fully compliant with the reporting, legal and fiduciary expectations of the Swiss Association.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor on risk identification and mitigation, helping the network establish a proactive risk management approach. This includes assessing legal, financial and operational risks inherent to international funding networks and designing workflows to safeguard the Swiss Association from vicarious liability.
  • Design and structure standard operating procedures for sub-grantee management, including sub-grantee vetting workflows, due diligence frameworks and risk-mitigation measures.
  • Review, update and align network-wide compliance policies to satisfy the requirements of major institutional donors and Swiss governance, including procurement standards, anti-fraud and anti-bribery frameworks, and internal operational procedures.
  • Advise the global network on standard compliance requirements associated with major institutional donors, ensuring the network's entities are structurally prepared to receive independent funding.
  • Translate complex compliance and risk frameworks into practical, accessible training materials and deliver remote training sessions and workshops to build a strong culture of compliance across diverse political and cultural contexts.
