About The Position

This is a senior HR leadership role within the Electronics business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. The position serves as the senior HR leader for the United States, managing approximately 2,000 employees and a team of 5 direct reports. The role also functions as a Global HR Business Partner for a Semiconductor Business Unit. The primary focus is to drive the country people agenda, including organization effectiveness, workforce planning, talent management, succession planning, leadership development, employee relations, and change management. The role requires acting as a strategic HR partner to senior leaders in the US, ensuring alignment between business priorities and people strategies, while operating effectively in a complex matrix environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant HRBP experience.
  • Experience in HR operations and/or a Global HRBP role in a fast-changing and matrix environment, ideally in the semiconductor industry.
  • Proven experience leading an HR team and driving the people agenda for a sizeable country or regional organization.
  • Proven experience as a strategic HR partner on organizational design, talent strategy, succession planning, leadership development, and change management.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate successfully in a complex matrix structure, balancing country leadership and global business HRBP responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of the US business, people environment and labor laws.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and execution skills in a high-change business setting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the HR agenda for an organization of approximately 2,000 employees in the US.

  • Act as strategic HR partner to senior leaders in the US, ensuring strong alignment between business priorities, country needs, and people strategies.
  • Hold a double-hat role as Global HR Business Partner for one Semiconductor Business Unit.
  • Operate effectively in a matrix environment, balancing country HR leadership responsibilities with global business HRBP accountabilities.
  • Use data, business insight, and external perspective to shape people decisions and position the organization for future needs.
