Chiesi Global Rare Diseases is a business unit established in February 2020, focused on the research, development, and commercialization of treatments and patient support services for rare and ultra-rare disorders. This unit is based in Boston, Massachusetts, with strong synergy with the headquarters in Parma. The rare unit focuses on research and product development for lysosomal storage diseases, rare hematology, ophthalmology disorders, and rare immunodeficiencies. It is also a dedicated partner with global leaders in scientific research, patient advocacy, and care.

Requirements

  • 4 years prior medical affairs experience required
  • Strong strategic thinking and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to develop deep subject matter expertise into disease and product clinical data
  • Strong expertise in medical-driven data generation and fluency on clinical research matters and environment
  • Strong ability to critically analyze, summarize and communicate data
  • Great analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Understanding of basic epidemiological and statistical concepts in medical research that enable efficient interaction with statistical team
  • Strong interpersonal skills in developing and maintaining positive and successful stakeholder relationships (internal and external)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in global roles and multi-cultural environment is considered an asset
  • Background in rare disease preferable
  • Background in immunology a plus but not required
  • Preference will be given to candidates with an interest in and experience with post-marketing studies and data generation

Responsibilities

  • Leads global strategic planning activities and the development of a global medical product plan
  • Ensures alignment of local activities with global strategy, leads the collection of actionable insights and determines follow up actions
  • Work toward becoming subject matter expert in Fabry disease/product clinical data with increasing responsibility to lead data generation activities and the integrated data generation plan
  • Provides input into the publication strategy and is accountable for driving data generation in support of congress presence and manuscript development
  • Provides scientific input and review for global scientific communication and medical information materials
  • Represents medical affairs at product global cross-functional meetings and acts as medical reviewer for study protocols at the Scientific Research Committee
  • Global congress support/attendance
  • Supports global KOL engagement (advisory boards, symposia, specialist meetings)
  • Provides input into the global medical training plan and delivers global training as needed
  • Acts as medical reviewer for global HEOR deliverables
  • Provides input into Global Patient advocacy initiative (eg roundtables)
