About the role The Manager, External Manufacturing Organizations (EMO) is a strategic Procurement role responsible for leading sourcing, commercial management, and supplier relationship activities across External Manufacturing Organizations (EMOs) supporting the Nutrition business. This position operates within the Procurement organization and is accountable for developing and executing EMO category and supplier strategies that ensure supply continuity, cost competitiveness, quality compliance, and long-term business resilience across raw materials, packaging, and outsourced manufacturing services. The role partners closely with Supply Chain, Planning, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, R&D, Finance and others to drive Procurement value creation through supplier performance management, risk mitigation, productivity delivery, contract negotiations, and network optimization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Chemistry, Food Science, Operations, or related field.
  • 7–10+ years of Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Management, or External Manufacturing experience within Nutrition, Pharma/CDMO, Specialty Chemicals, or Food/Life Sciences industries.
  • Proven experience managing EMOs/CDMOs/toll manufacturers across raw materials, ingredients, and packaging categories.
  • Strong background in supplier negotiations, commercial contracts, and procurement within regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Understanding of end-to-end Procurement processes, supplier governance, and value chain integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive supply resilience, risk mitigation programs, and leverage ERP/procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Ariba, Coupa, Kinaxis).
  • Track record of delivering on key KPIs, including cost savings, working capital optimization, supplier performance (OTIF), contract coverage, and procurement value realization, supported by strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute EMO procurement strategies covering external manufacturing, raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and services aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead strategic sourcing, RFx events, supplier negotiations, and contract management to deliver cost savings, productivity, and working capital targets.
  • Perform TCO, should-cost, and market analysis to inform sourcing decisions and strengthen commercial outcomes.
  • Own commercial relationships and governance for external manufacturing partners, including performance management, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build and lead Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) programs, including business reviews, pricing structures, and long-term supply agreements.
  • Drive supply risk mitigation and business continuity planning through cross-functional collaboration, contingency sourcing, and contractual safeguards.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Regulatory, R&D, Planning, and Finance to support product launches, supplier qualification, and supply continuity in regulated environments.
  • Provide team leadership by setting goals, coaching talent, and developing a high-performance procurement team.
