About The Position

The Office of International Affairs (OIA) develops and advances initiatives that support the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz vision as a leading public university with a global reputation for excellence in learning, research, and creativity, community engagement, and clinical care. OIA partners with the university’s schools/colleges and with other university offices to align international student recruitment efforts and services, support academic programs, foster global educational partnerships, facilitate research collaborations and create global learning opportunities. The Office of Global Education (OGE) provides learners at the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz with a wide range of engaging and affordable international study, research, and clinical opportunities to globalize their academic and professional futures. The Global Education Coordinator is an international education professional who serves as the primary contact for students and assists with the coordination of study abroad programs. The coordinator’s work activities support study abroad enrollment and participation goals through proactive student outreach, program promotion, advising, and follow-up. The coordinator identifies opportunities to strengthen the student pipeline, improve conversion from interest to application and enrollment, and expand participation across academic programs and student populations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • One year of experience working in customer service.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office application suite.
  • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary contact for students participating in faculty-led programs, third-party programs, and other international experiences abroad.
  • Delivers study abroad advising that aligns with university policies and responds effectively to student needs.
  • Collaborates with campus stakeholders to share best practices for study abroad advising.
  • Answers student inquiries, provides application guidance, plans and leads pre-departure orientations, and assists with returnee events.
  • Assists students in resolving issues related to health, adjustment, and academic concerns.
  • Supports returning students by processing academic course equivalencies and transcripts/grade reports for work completed abroad.
  • Serves on the Global Education Advisory Committee (GEAC) and participates in the review and vetting of faculty-led programs.
  • Assists with critical OGE functions, including program development, curriculum mapping, financial aid outreach, and risk management.
  • Oversees OGE’s course approvals list for third-party programs within the assigned portfolio and liaises with academic departments for shepherding course approvals for third-party programs.
  • Supports all global study programs at CU Anschutz in addition to a portfolio of CU Denver and third-party programs.
  • Enrolls students into global study programs and works closely with OGE Managers to ensure timely and complete student applications including providing application support and monitoring, requesting deposits, confirming programs, tracking course enrollment, and ensuring all participants are enrolled in health and evacuation insurance.
  • Utilizes Terra Dotta daily to assist with building program applications, managing existing student applications and enrollment measures, preparing promotional materials, and assisting with risk appeals.
  • Shares responsibility for updating Terra Dotta listings and application materials for third-party study abroad programs.
  • Works closely with Global Education staff and the OIA Finance and Human Resources Unit to ensure student records and billing are accurate.
  • Ensures detailed and comprehensive files and records are essential for operations, analysis, and review of operations (e.g., master program spreadsheet, standard operating procedures, etc.).
  • May assist in reviewing program evaluations and prepare analyses of programs and other data to identify areas of strength and aspects in need of improvement.
  • Assists with marketing and promoting study abroad programs, which may include assisting with planning and execution of study abroad fairs and campus events, social media marketing and electronic marketing through websites and web promotion, and leading information sessions in campus classroom settings.
  • Provides timely and pertinent program updates and reminders to campus academic advisors and identify departmental-level avenues for reaching students.
  • Serves on the campus International Risk Management Committee (IRMC), which sets campus policy for international travel and oversees global incident response.
  • Assumes periodic responsibility for the OGE “duty phone,” which provides 24/7 emergency support while programs are abroad.
