About The Position

The Oversight Board is an independent governance institution that makes binding decisions on the most challenging content issues on Meta's platforms. Since issuing its first decisions in January 2021, the Board has built a first-of-its-kind model grounded in international human rights law that has driven systemic improvements in how Meta moderates content, enforces policies, and treats its users. The Oversight Board Administration is the team of full-time staff who support Board Members in fulfilling the institution's mission. The Administration has a presence in London, San Francisco and Washington, D.C., and operates with a global scope. Joining the Oversight Board Administration is a chance to be part of an organisation which is leading on some of the most prominent and challenging issues facing the tech industry and society. This role serves as a horizontal team member supporting the public affairs, communications and engagement team functions, ensuring coordination and execution of external engagements.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable relevant experience in a fast-paced communications, media, or public affairs team, preferably with international focus.
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects across time zones and functions.
  • Experience supporting events, stakeholder engagement, or communications campaigns.
  • Strong global competency and ability to work with diverse international stakeholders.
  • Interest in the intersection of technology, regulation, and human rights.
  • Experience translating complex policy information into accessible messages for a range of stakeholders
  • Experience working cross functionally, building effective working relationships to support the aims of the wider company.

Responsibilities

  • Draft news releases, talking points, position papers, and other external-facing communications products for review.
  • Prepare briefing documents, interview briefs and messaging, schedules, planning calls, and activity tracking for Board Members.
  • Coordinate events, including roundtables and webinars, from inception to on-site delivery. This would include the event concept and goals, identification of speakers or participants, briefing materials, audience building, logistical information and follow up activities.
  • Provide on-the-ground communications and logistical support for key activities, including support to Board Members, special guests and executives.
  • Maintain and build our outreach database in Hubspot, keeping it up to date with new contacts.
  • Conduct research on issues, events, prospective partners, journalists and other prospects.
  • Draft digital communications, such as social media posts or newsletter content.
  • Serve as liaison to other internal teams and working groups on key issues or cases.
  • Support monitoring and summarizing media coverage and produce weekly coverage summary to share across OSB on a weekly basis.
  • Highlight trends or arising issues that are relevant to our work and reputation.
  • Compile impact and engagement metrics and perform impact analysis; contribute to internal reporting processes.
  • Map global events and advocacy opportunities aligned with the Board’s strategic priorities.
  • Monitor deadlines and submissions for major international conferences, driving sign off and alignment as needed among key staff and Board Members.
  • Participate and lead elements of communications and engagement projects, providing coordination, research, drafting editorial content, written analysis, administrative, and logistical support to help ensure successful delivery against team objectives and priorities.
