About The Position

As part of the Enterprise Global Supply Management team, this position supports the commercial aspects of procuring assigned commodities on a global scale. The role contributes to the sourcing process, helps secure commercial agreements, supports supplier portfolio management, and identifies emerging technologies and supplier innovations to strengthen BorgWarner’s cost and innovation position. This position plays an important role in supporting cost savings, supplier performance, and risk mitigation—ultimately contributing to operational efficiency and BorgWarner’s competitive advantage in the global marketplace.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in Procurement supporting corporate or business unit functions within a global organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a defined portfolio of procurement commodities (e.g. software, SaaS, IT services, HR services) aligned with global sourcing objectives.
  • Support the development and execution of multi-year commodity strategies and supplier portfolios in partnership with internal stakeholders.
  • Apply BorgWarner’s LA/GS model (Local Accountability / Global Strength) to help deliver competitive advantage and value.
  • Support strategic sourcing of assigned commodities: assist with specification design, RFx development, supplier response coordination, and quote/TCO analysis.
  • Participate in pricing and commercial term negotiations; assist in contract development and implementation.
  • Gather and analyze information on cost drivers, market dynamics, innovation areas, and alternative suppliers to support decision making.
  • Contribute to sub-commodity strategy development and cost optimization efforts in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Assist in resolving supplier issues post-award and support escalation processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on supplier evaluations, performance reviews, and issue resolution.
  • Support relationships with key global suppliers; participate in strategic reviews to align objectives and identify opportunities.
  • Track value delivery and support cost effectiveness within scope.
  • Help maintain supplier strategies and dashboards reflecting performance, competitiveness, and strategic fit.
  • Use benchmarking and analytics to identify trends and risks; assist in managing contracts, SLAs, and compliance activities.
  • Engage stakeholders by understanding their needs and concerns, and support communication of business information and decisions.
  • Align procurement activities with business objectives by collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Participate in workshops and strategy sessions to identify cost-saving opportunities, mitigate risks, and promote innovation.
  • Translate stakeholder priorities into actionable procurement plans and support change management efforts.
  • Support compliance efforts related to contractual obligations, SLAs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in identifying supplier risks and integrating findings into sourcing strategies.
  • Contribute to risk mitigation planning, including dual sourcing and supplier diversification.
  • Collaborate with Legal to support inclusion of risk protections in contracts.
  • Monitor market trends and disruptions to help adjust procurement strategies.
  • Participate in supplier reviews and site visits to assess performance and risk.
  • Help embed risk considerations into supplier selection and management processes.
  • Act as a resource to stakeholders by sharing market intelligence and supplier insights.
  • Communicate GSM strategy and action plans in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Support cross-functional sourcing teams to ensure alignment across procurement, engineering, and finance.
  • Share best practices in negotiations, contract management, and market analysis with peers.
  • Promote ethical sourcing and compliance through active participation in procurement processes.
