About The Position

The Global Supply Management (GSM) Function is recognized as a critical function for business success. It delivers the training, tools and opportunities needed to create innovative solutions for the function & the corporation. GSM has leading edge, effective processes to anticipate and exceed customer requirements. Role Purpose Lead the development and execution of GSM sourcing strategies for capital equipment supporting global manufacturing and expansion projects. Deliver capital efficiency, supplier performance, risk mitigation, policy compliance, and on-time project execution in partnership with Engineering, PMO, Operations, Finance, Shared Services, and suppliers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing, operations, planning, engineering, supply management, or procurement.
  • Technical curiosity and ability to learn how equipment used to manufacture Corning products works.
  • Experience managing multimillion-dollar negotiations and supplier relationships across cost, quality, schedule, service, and performance.

  • Experience across multiple businesses, divisions, technologies, or global manufacturing environments.
  • Experience purchasing industrial measurement, control, refactoring, semiconductor-process, mechanical, or electrical equipment.
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment, supporting cross-functional teams, or leading lean/value-engineering projects that drive equipment cost reduction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead sourcing strategy development and execution for capital equipment supporting global manufacturing and expansion projects.
  • Manage RFQs, RFPs, supplier evaluations, contract negotiations, and supplier selection for multimillion-dollar capital investments.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, PMO, Operations, Finance, and suppliers to ensure successful project delivery from concept through equipment installation and project closeout.
  • Drive cost savings, cost avoidance, and capital efficiency through strategic sourcing, total cost of ownership analysis, benchmarking, and value engineering.
  • Oversee procurement execution, including purchase orders, supplier commitments, delivery schedules, and issue resolution to support on-time project execution.
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships, performance reviews, audits, capability assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives across cost, quality, delivery, service, and capacity.
  • Identify and mitigate supply, commercial, schedule, and technology risks while ensuring compliance with corporate sourcing policies and procurement controls.
  • Support supplier development, qualification of new technologies, supplier-base optimization, and global supply continuity efforts.
