About The Position

Dal-Tile, a subsidiary of Mohawk Industries and the largest manufacturer of tile and natural stone in the United States, is seeking a Glaze Prep Technician to join their team. This role is responsible for providing support in areas such as following the quality management system, scheduling batching, and managing raw material inventory. The primary objective is to ensure team member and machine safety, along with efficient operational and maintenance tasks related to digital inkjet printing machines.

Requirements

2 or more years manufacturing experience.
Dal-Tile level II or level III glazing certification or 18 months+ experience in the ceramic tile industry with a strong background in machine effectiveness.
A high school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of safety policy and procedures.
Ability to read/write English.
Basic computer literacy.
Strong knowledge of glaze line and quality standards, and overall ceramic manufacturing.
Strong communication and listening skills.
Leadership skills.
Organizational skills.
Conflict resolution skills.
Ability to analyze, plan and schedule.

Responsibilities

Ensures all safety protocols throughout the plant and department are adhered to.
Drives world class housekeeping in glaze prep and the batching plant.
Follows the Quality Management System for all operating procedures and practice instructions, as well as working with the Quality Department to create needed procedures.
Responsible for daily/weekly/monthly glaze prep needs from the batching plant as well as raw materials needed.
Planning and scheduling the batching plant orders from our sister plants.
Responsible for month end raw material inventory count, for all glaze line, glaze prep and batching plant materials.
Working with purchasing and vendors for glaze prep raw material orders.
Training of all new hires and existing team members on the safe and efficient operation of the machines in glaze prep and batching.
Working with operational and maintenance teams to develop and sustain operator basic care programs.
Fill-in and relief responsibility for all glazing prep and batching functions, as well as assisting the glaze lines for glaze needs.
Will perform daily and weekly review of mills and mill times, to ensure efficiencies remain at a high level.
Potential for call-in support may be required if in-house team is unable to meet the needs of the process.
