About The Position

This role involves using a hydrogen-oxygen torch to heat 8250 tubing while manipulating the glass on a Litton glass lathe using foot pedals. The technician will be responsible for cutting and cleaning tubing, verifying seals meet product specifications, and operating equipment such as a Helium Leak detector and Keyence measuring tool. The position also includes fabricating R&D prototypes, maintaining stock levels, and interpreting technical drawings and instructions.

Requirements

High School graduate or GED.
Read, write & communicate in English.
Ability to do hand glassblowing operations.
Read & interpret technical drawings & perform basic math.
Excellent hand/eye coordination and hand/finger dexterity.
Hold a 1-2 lb torch majority of shift & lift up to 10 lbs occasionally.
Sit or stand majority of shift, regularly reach & occasionally stand, bend, stoop, push, & pull.
Carries out tasks with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

2 yrs off-hand or lamp/scientific glassblowing experience preferred
willing to train candidates with vocational training and/or artisan hand glass blowing experience

Responsibilities

Cut & clean tubing using diamond saw. Verify seals meet product specifications.
Utilize & operate Helium Leak detector and Keyence measuring tool.
Read & interpret technical drawings & written & verbal instructions.
Maintain stock levels of parts & notify supervisor of defects or shortages.
Fabricate R&D prototypes & provide feedback.
Utilise best practice processes, techniques and continuous improvement methods as introduced.
Other duties as assigned to assure departmental excellence and teamwork.
