About The Position

The Aubuchon Company is seeking a skilled and customer-focused Glass Repair Specialist to join their team in Saranac Lake. This role will operate within the main hardware store, providing specialized glass cutting, repair, and replacement services. The specialist will handle various glass applications, including residential windows, screens, storm windows, vehicle glass, and mirrors, working with customers to find the best solutions for their projects. The ideal candidate possesses strong hands-on skills, precision in measurement, and a knack for troubleshooting repairs.

Requirements

  • Previous experience with glass cutting, glazing, residential window repair, automotive glass, construction, carpentry, or a related trade preferred.
  • Experience accurately measuring and cutting materials to specification.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to perform detailed work where accuracy and quality are important.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to assess repair needs.
  • Comfortable communicating directly with customers and explaining repair options.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of the larger store team.
  • Willingness to learn additional hardware products, services, and store operations.
  • Dependable, organized, and committed to completing work safely and accurately.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.; frequent lifting/carrying of up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, push, and reach throughout shifts.
  • Must be comfortable working in an animal-friendly environment (accommodations available upon request).

Responsibilities

  • Measure, cut, fit, and install glass for residential, automotive, and other customer applications.
  • Repair and replace glass in home windows, storm windows, doors, and similar fixtures.
  • Perform vehicle glass repairs and replacements within the scope of services offered by the location.
  • Measure customer-provided frames, windows, and other materials to ensure accurate glass sizing and fit.
  • Cut glass, mirrors, plexiglass, and other materials according to customer specifications.
  • Repair and replace window screens and related components.
  • Remove damaged or broken glass and prepare frames and surfaces for replacement.
  • Use appropriate glazing materials, sealants, adhesives, tools, and equipment to complete repairs safely and correctly.
  • Troubleshoot glass, window, and screen repair needs and recommend appropriate solutions to customers.
  • Provide customers with information regarding repair options, measurements, materials, pricing, and expected completion timelines.
  • Maintain an organized glass cutting and repair work area and ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained.
  • Follow all established safety procedures when handling, cutting, removing, and installing glass.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of glass, repair materials, hardware, and supplies and communicate replenishment needs to store leadership.
  • Accurately document customer orders and communicate when completed projects are ready for pickup.
  • Support customers throughout the hardware store and assist with general store operations as business needs require.
  • Partner with store leadership and other team members to provide a positive and helpful customer experience.
