This role involves leading Give it a Go hiking trips, specifically the waterfall walk and Pen y Fan. The ideal candidate will be an outdoor enthusiast with strong communication skills, a solid understanding of first aid, and health and safety protocols. The position requires commitment to specific dates throughout the autumn semester, with the possibility of additional work in the second semester. Responsibilities include ensuring the health and safety of participants, managing volunteers, providing first aid if necessary, delivering safety briefings, overseeing the smooth running of the trips, and managing equipment like walkie-talkies. The role also involves training volunteers on equipment use. The trips are weather and student-number dependent, and cancellations or rescheduling may occur. Workdays typically run from 9:30 am until the trip returns to the Students' Union (around 4 pm - 5 pm), with additional time required for pre-trip briefings and post-trip debriefings, which can be conducted in person or online.
