About The Position
The GIS Technician is responsible for creating and maintaining GIS data that is stored in the department's ArcGIS enterprise and Geocortex system, analyzing the data to support the department's internal activities, and distributing data externally as needed. The role works under the direct supervision of the GIS Department Manager.
Requirements
- Two (2 ) years’ experience using GIS products, equipment, mapping, and computer-aided design. One year of experience may be allowed for each year of education in GIS-related coursework.
- Experience with Esri’s GIS software, including ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcMap, and ArcToolbox
- Valid Class "C" Texas driver’s license

Responsibilities
- Creates and updates GIS Data and metadata in the ArcGIS enterprise system.
- Analyzes GIS data.
- Creates Geocortex applications and publishes services consumed by those applications.
- Prepares GIS data to fulfill GIS data requests made by consultants and the public.
