Under general supervision of the GIS Supervisor, the GIS Technician maintains and updates parcel mapping and related geographic information used by the Assessor's Office. The position interprets legal descriptions, edits GIS data, prepares maps, and supports internal users by ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and availability of geographic information. The GIS Technician supports assessment operations by maintaining accurate geographic information, assisting internal users, and contributing to consistent, reliable parcel mapping. Career Progression With appropriate training, demonstrated proficiency over time in grade, consistent successful job performance, and based on organizational need, this position may be eligible for progression into a GIS Analyst role. Advancement is contingent upon the employee demonstrating the ability to perform higher-level spatial analysis, assume increased responsibility for data interpretation and problem solving, and apply GIS methodologies beyond data maintenance and map production, as determined through supervisory evaluation and organizational need.
