About The Position

This position provides GIS and database support for the implementation of GIS products, including requirements gathering, testing, and deployment tasks. It responds to technical issues and requests for enhancing technology, and leads or supports the business through familiarity with processes and understanding compliance drivers. As an Elevate Program Product Owner for IT Telecom, this position will oversee both tactical and strategic elements of product development for the IT Telecom functional area within PG&E. This role will work directly with the Functional Area Lead for the IT Telecom Functional Areas to support the development of a product roadmap, alignment with enterprise standards, and readiness for system transitions and transformational opportunities. As an IT Telecom Product Owner, you will provide guidance to internal and external program resources in a “badgeless” environment, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and application owners, and bring domain knowledge and technical expertise to bear against complex problems in order to drive the implementation of modern functional-area specific GIS solutions. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting the Elevate Program’s transformation goals by ensuring data is clean, structured, and aligned with enterprise architecture for the program. They will work with the Product Manager for IT Telecom to effectively manage the IT Telecom GIS System, assist in vendor coordination for all deliverables, including contracts and implementation, and facilitate cross-functional collaboration to improve data flows between GIS, asset management, and operational systems. This role ensures that there is alignment of the technical solution to business objectives and changes. This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business needs or company requirements. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory and will be agreed upon by the successful candidate and hiring leader. The individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range to reasonably expect will be around the minimum and the midpoint. The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Environmental Science or equivalent experience in business
  • Experience with GIS - Geographic Information Systems, 3 years
  • 1 year of experience with ArcGIS or related Esri technologies.
  • Knowledge of enterprise geodatabase fundamentals

  • Support enterprise GIS data modeling and data capture initiatives; develop and review software functionality requirements in alignment with business needs.
  • Work collaboratively with business stakeholders, IT teams, and vendors to troubleshoot issues, drive alignment, and produce clear technical and functional communication.
  • Support special projects and initiatives related to GIS and IT Telecom business.
  • Create and update metadata and catalog GIS layers, including documenting workflow procedures for staff using GIS, both in the office and in the field.
  • Provide input and support data gathering, data integration, and quality control procedures for geospatial data; interface with data source systems to resolve complex issues and assess impact to operations, compliance, and business commitments.
  • Identify user quality control, support, and data integration process improvement opportunities; gather feedback on new requirements and support implementation, communication, and training around process revisions and changes.
  • Support efforts, where applicable, related to the preparation of annual reports to FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission), SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission), OPS (Office of Pipeline Safety), and CPUC (California Public Utilities Commission).
  • Support coordination of GIS software, hardware, and database-related projects and initiatives in partnership with technical teams.
  • Support projects and efforts related to improving business processes and ways of working; share expertise and lessons learned across teams.
