What You Will Contribute to OHM Advisors As a GIS Specialist, you will support impactful projects across engineering, planning, architecture, and water resources. You will work closely with a collaborative GIS team to support field data collection, GIS database development, and mapping efforts that help advance communities and improve infrastructure. This role offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to emerging geospatial technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems or a related field, with a focus on GIS preferred.
  • Experience with Esri ArcGIS software including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and mobile field applications.
  • Familiarity with GPS and GNSS data collection.
  • Experience creating map products with an understanding of basic cartographic principles.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and an eagerness to learn.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work onsite in Tennessee.
  • Local candidates are preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of GIS experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise database structures.
  • Exposure to Python and/or Arcade scripting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with updating and maintaining GIS databases for utility management and other infrastructure projects using ArcGIS Pro.
  • Support field data collection efforts using high-precision GNSS receivers and ArcGIS Online field applications.
  • Assist in the design and development of GIS database schemas.
  • Design and configure ArcGIS Field Maps, web maps, applications, and dashboards.
  • Interpret, georeference, and digitize utility and construction plans.
  • Utilize ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online to support a variety of project needs.
  • Learn and apply asset management and data collection best practices.
  • Participate in project meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Assist with the maintenance and organization of GIS field equipment.
  • Gain exposure to advanced and emerging technologies such as drone data collection, underground locating, LiDAR scanning, 3D modeling, automation, and custom tools or scripts.
  • Represent the firm professionally when interacting with internal teams, clients, and the public.
